Substation
A low-poly wind and solar farm collector substation at real scale: a fenced gravel yard with a lattice line-entry gantry, a green step-up transformer with radiators and porcelain bushings, a tube collector bus and three feeder bays. A small control building, two lightning masts and a windsock complete the yard.

Left rail: colours and the 3 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Substation for the Wind and Solar Farm kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Wind and Solar Farm kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Clean power on open land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, panel blue #2e67b8, grass green #3a883a, signal red #e90c0c, white dark #d7cebc, panel blue dark #1f457a, white light #f9f8f6, panel blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `windSpeed` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Wind speed" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the yard is 33.6 m × 25.6 m including its kerb (32 × 24 m inside the fence), and the lightning mast tips reach 16.4 m; the gantry is 12.5 m and the transformer 6.5 m to its bushing tops. Units are metres, +Y up, and the front (gate, feeder bays) faces +Z. The origin is the yard's bottom centre with the gravel pad on y = 0. The GLB is static, carries no animation clip, and has 8,708 triangles in 40 meshes at the defaults (9,836 at 4 bays). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (10 of the 12). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. windSpeed (the kit's 'Wind speed') sets the windsock's droop from limp at 0 to streaming level at 1, so it is a pose, not motion. bayCount (1–4) adds feeder bays and lengthens the bus; fenceHeight changes the fence. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene. glb-lint reported 0 errors at the defaults and at every param extreme; its warnings are expected (one material per mesh, non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, intended nesting of footings and trim, and a 'scale' heuristic that expects 1 m objects). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes, and three-check and the GLB reload keep all 11 ids.
About the Substation 3D model
Substation is a free low-poly 3D model from the Wind and Solar Farm set. It measures 34 m × 16 m × 32 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 8,708 triangles across 40 meshes, with 11 named parts. Download the 646 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Substation 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 646 KB: 8,708 triangles, 26,124 vertices and 40 materials, modelled in metres at 34 m × 16 m × 32 m.
- Can I animate Substation?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 11 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Substation 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
