Weather mast

A low-poly 10 m meteorological mast for a wind or solar farm: a red-and-white banded triangular lattice tower, guyed to three concrete anchors. It carries cup anemometers, a wind vane, a windsock, a pyranometer, a small solar module and a data-logger cabinet.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Weather mast for the Wind and Solar Farm kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Wind and Solar Farm kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Clean power on open land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, panel blue #2e67b8, grass green #3a883a, signal red #e90c0c, white dark #d7cebc, panel blue dark #1f457a, white light #f9f8f6, panel blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `windSpeed` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Wind speed" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the lattice is 10 m tall, and the lightning rod reaches 11.1 m. The triangular lattice has 0.45 m faces and sits on a 1.2 m square concrete pad. Guy wires run at two levels to three anchor blocks 4 m from the mast, so the footprint is about 7.4 × 6.5 m. This is a 10 m automatic weather station of the kind used on solar farms and for standard 10 m wind readings, not a hub-height (80 m+) wind-resource mast; a hub-height mast would be invisible at kit scale. Instruments are drawn about 1.5× real size so they read at thumbnail size. The origin is at the bottom centre of the pad, the model rests on y = 0, and the logger and solar module face +Z. Wind blows toward +X: the vane nose points −X and the sock streams +X. windSpeed (the kit's 'Wind speed') lifts the windsock from hanging slack (0) to standing straight out (1). It is a static pose, not an animation. mastHeight (6–12 m) rescales the lattice and banding, which always ends red at the top, and moves the guy anchors out with it. boomLength (0.8–1.6 m) sets the instrument boom reach. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: windSpeed 0 / 12 m / 1.6 m at 4,158 viewer tris, and windSpeed 1 / 6 m / 0.8 m at 2,886. The GLB has 3,508 triangles in 29 primitives and is static, with no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12 are used; grass green, white light, warm white and dark wood are not). Names repeat across the per-part meshes, so recolour by name. The viewer's staging ground and light rig are not in the GLB. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected: duplicate material names come from the per-part, per-colour meshes; geometry is non-indexed on purpose for flat facets; overlaps are clamps and braces nested on the legs; 'detached' flags the booms and the windsock arm, which are held by the mast and the boom upright (separate parts); the height warning only compares against a 1 m reference. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check finds all 12 part ids.

About the Weather mast 3D model

Weather mast is a free low-poly 3D model from the Wind and Solar Farm set. It measures 7.6 m × 11 m × 6.6 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,508 triangles across 29 meshes, with 12 named parts. Download the 272 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Weather mast 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 272 KB: 3,508 triangles, 10,524 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 7.6 m × 11 m × 6.6 m.
Can I animate Weather mast?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 12 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Weather mast 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
