Tool vans' crates

A low-poly set of crates unloaded from a maintenance van: a blue steel gang box with its lid propped open over the tools inside, two slatted timber crates on a pallet with a third stacked on top under a grey tarp and a white hard hat, and a red tool case on the ground.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tool vans' crates for the Wind and Solar Farm kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Wind and Solar Farm kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Clean power on open land. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, panel blue #2e67b8, grass green #3a883a, signal red #e90c0c, white dark #d7cebc, panel blue dark #1f457a, white light #f9f8f6, panel blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `windSpeed` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Wind speed" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the gang box is 1.2 m long, 0.62 m deep and 0.74 m tall on its skids, its lid opening to about 1.4 m. The pallet is a 1.2 × 0.8 m Euro pallet; each timber crate is 0.56 × 0.76 × 0.5 m. The whole set is about 2.8 m wide × 1.3 m deep × 1.43 m tall. Units are metres, +Y up, and the front (open box, tool case) faces +Z. The origin is the footprint's bottom centre, and every skid, pallet board and the case rest on y = 0. The GLB is static, carries no animation clip, and has 1,936 triangles in 23 meshes at the defaults. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. windSpeed (the kit's 'Wind speed') lifts the tarp's front flap from hanging at 0 to blown up and out at 1, so it is a pose, not motion. lidOpen swings the gang box lid from closed to 100° (the stays appear once it is past 30°); crateCount (1–3) sets the crates on the pallet, and the tarp and hard hat move to the top one; crateHeight sets all crates' height. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene. three-check passed at the defaults and at the opposite extremes (lid closed, one 0.6 m crate, full wind). glb-lint reported 0 errors; its warnings are expected: one material per mesh, non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, intended nesting (lid over body, tools in the box), and the tarp flap reported as 'detached' because it only meets the tarp along its hinge edge. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids (its regex allows no hyphen); the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes.

About the Tool vans' crates 3D model

Tool vans' crates is a free low-poly 3D model from the Wind and Solar Farm set. It measures 2.8 m × 1.4 m × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,936 triangles across 23 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 156 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Tool vans' crates 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 156 KB: 1,936 triangles, 5,808 vertices and 23 materials, modelled in metres at 2.8 m × 1.4 m × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Tool vans' crates?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Tool vans' crates 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
