Escalator well

A low-poly shopping mall escalator well: an upper floor slab on white columns with a long glass-railed opening, and a pair of up and down escalators that climb through it from the lower floor. Plain colour brand banners hang inside the opening.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Escalator well for the Shopping Mall kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Shopping Mall kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A bright atrium with shops on two floors. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: white #f4f1ec, glass blue #2e67b8, chrome #cad1d8, accent pink #e085a3, white dark #d7cebc, glass blue dark #1f457a, white light #f9f8f6, glass blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `shopBrands` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Shop brands" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 6.9 m wide (x), 11.8 m long (z) and 6.19 m tall to the top of the escalator handrails, at the default 5.0 m floor-to-floor height. The void is 4.5 m by 8.6 m and the escalators rise at 30°. The origin is at the bottom centre and the lower floor rests on y = 0. The front faces +Z: both escalators start at the front on the lower floor and arrive at the back on the upper slab. The exported model has 2,852 triangles in 21 meshes and no animation clip. The kit palette uses 11 of 12 colours (dark wood is unused), and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults; changing them rebuilds the model in the viewer. shopBrands (the kit's 'Shop brands') sets how many of the six chrome hanger rails on the void's side bulkheads carry a plain colour banner (0 to 3 per side) and how far the banners drop (1.0 m to 2.2 m). floorHeight changes the slab height, the escalator run and the well length. stepWidth (0.6 to 1.0 m) widens the escalators and the void. Both extremes passed three-check: shopBrands 0, floor height 4.2 m, step width 0.6 m; and shopBrands 1, floor height 6.0 m. The glass is a transparent material (opacity 0.5); some engines need it set to alpha-blend on import. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings. Two are about material count and duplicates, both caused by the per-mesh materials. One flags non-indexed geometry, which is deliberate flat shading. One flags overlaps where kerbs, posts and glass are deliberately nested. One flags detached slab meshes: the slab rests on the column capitals, which are a separate part. The last is the expected-height heuristic, which assumes about 1 m. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; sub-ids use underscores. three-check accepts those ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Escalator well 3D model

Escalator well is a free low-poly 3D model from the Shopping Mall set. It measures 6.9 m × 6.2 m × 12 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,852 triangles across 21 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 289 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Escalator well 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 289 KB: 2,852 triangles, 8,556 vertices and 21 materials, modelled in metres at 6.9 m × 6.2 m × 12 m.
Can I animate Escalator well?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Escalator well 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
