Water wheel

A low-poly Mekong-delta bamboo irrigation water wheel turning in a short channel between grassy banks: tan bamboo rims on dark wood spokes, woven paddles dipping in the water, lashed lifting tubes, A-frame trestles and a bamboo trough. It comes with a seamless 8 s loop of the wheel making one full turn.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Water wheel for the River Delta kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the River Delta kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stilt houses and floating trade. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: muddy brown #43372d, palm green #3a883a, bright boat colours #b39d80, sky blue #2e67b8, muddy brown dark #15120e, palm green dark #235223, muddy brown light #6d5d50, palm green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

  • Water wheel
  • Channel water
  • Banks
  • A-frame trestles
  • Bamboo trough
  • Wheel and axle

Note: Size: a 4 m diameter wheel, 0.74 m wide across the paddles, on an axle 2.25 m above y = 0; the model is about 5.4 m long (x, along the channel) × 4.75 m deep (z, bank to bank incl. trough spout) × 4.25 m tall. The base is a 1.6 m wide channel of still water between two 0.84 m earth banks, resting on y = 0 with the origin at its bottom centre; the wheel faces +Z (its lifting tubes and trough are on the +Z side). waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') sets the channel water from 0.25 m (paddle tips just touch) to 0.65 m deep (default 0.45 m); the foam follows the surface. wheelDiameter rescales the wheel 3.2–4.8 m and raises the axle and trestles to suit (the channel lengthens for big wheels); paddleCount sets paddles and tubes together (spokes are half that per side); spinTurns sets 1 or 2 turns per loop. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. Animation: one seamless 8 s clip ('scene-motion'), the 'wheel' node (axle, hub, spokes, rims, paddles, tubes) turning one full revolution about the axle centre, bottom paddles moving downstream (+x); banks, water, trestles, bearings and trough never move. The exported static node pose is the t = 2 s pose (three-check exports after its determinism seek). The GLB has 2,240 triangles in 17 meshes; three-check's 2.7k figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. All 12 kit palette colours are used, every material named exactly after its colour. glb-lint reports 0 errors and only heuristic warnings (non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, overlapping reed meshes, foam 'detached' as it lies on the water surface, scale vs a 1 m reference). plan-check rejects the hyphenated slug part ids the library mandates; a copy with the ids de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the hyphenated ids.

About the Water wheel 3D model

Water wheel is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the River Delta set. It measures 5.4 m × 4.3 m × 4.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,240 triangles across 17 meshes, with 6 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 184 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Water wheel 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 184 KB: 2,240 triangles, 6,720 vertices and 17 materials, modelled in metres at 5.4 m × 4.3 m × 4.8 m.
Is Water wheel animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Water wheel 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
