Maps
A low-poly library map chest: a mahogany plan chest of shallow drawers with brass pulls, the top drawer pulled out to show its map sheets, a parchment map unrolled on top under brass weights, and rolled maps tied with ribbon along the back.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Maps for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.15 m wide across the top board, 0.85 m to the top surface and 0.97 m to the top of the rolled-map stack. Depth is 0.81 m for the chest and 1.11 m with the top drawer pulled out 0.28 m, so it is a typical library plan chest. Origin: bottom centre of the chest; the model rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 1,520 triangles in 26 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. Each part is a group with one mesh per palette colour (e.g. open_map.brass), and every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The maps carry no text, names or grid: landmasses are flat-colour slabs 2 mm proud of the sheet. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') turns landmasses and ribbon ties from plain mid-grey ink and dark-wood twine into kit colours. At 0 every map is ink on parchment; at 1 every landmass and ribbon is coloured. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: colours 0 / 6 drawers / open 0.45 m / 4 rolls, and colours 1 / 3 drawers / closed / 1 roll. The pulled-out drawer runs into a real slot in the carcass. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings with the plan (26 materials over the direction default of 10 and duplicate-material sets, because the exporter writes one material per mesh even where meshes share one of the 10 palette materials; non-indexed flat-shaded primitives; per-colour sibling meshes overlapping inside a part; and the top board reported as detached even though it sits on the carcass). Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 7 planned ids. Fix round 1: stacked carcass blocks left faint seam lines on the back and sides, so the carcass now has whole side and back panels; the open drawer's brass label plate also got its parchment card.
About the Maps 3D model
Maps is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 1.1 m × 97 cm × 1.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,520 triangles across 26 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 129 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Maps 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 129 KB: 1,520 triangles, 4,560 vertices and 26 materials, modelled in metres at 1.1 m × 97 cm × 1.1 m.
- Can I animate Maps?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Maps 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
