Rolling ladder
A low-poly library rolling ladder with dark-wood stiles, deep stair-like treads, brass hook-and-roller tops that hang it on a rail, and wheels in brass forks at the foot. A short loop rocks the wheels and rollers and folds out the brass grab handles.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Rolling ladder for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2.12 m tall to the top of the hook bridges, 0.58 m wide across the grab-handle hinges (0.46 m between stile centres) and 0.65 m deep from the hook keepers to the foot. Origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint, with the climbing side facing +Z. The wheels rest on y = 0 to within 0.7 mm through the whole turn, since a 12-sided wheel cannot stay exactly tangent. The ladder fits the kit's rolling-ladder-rail piece: with railHeight matching, place the ladder origin 0.365 m in front of the rail's mounting face (z = 0) and each roller sits on top of the 2.0 m brass rail tube, with the back cheek hooking behind it. Without a rail it stands on its wheels, and the hooks stand clear at the top. The GLB has 808 triangles in 17 meshes and carries one 6 s seamless clip, 'scene-motion'. The stiles, treads, hooks, forks and books never move. The wheels rock through ±0.12 m of travel about their front-to-back axles, the rollers turn through the same travel about their pins, and the grab handles fold forward about their hinge pins by handleSwing·(1−cos)/2. Every pivot sits on its axle or hinge. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material instance per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets the share of the three seeded books on the top tread drawn from the bright kit colours instead of leather tones. With only three books on a fixed seed, part of the range gives the same stack. railHeight (1.6–2.4 m) lengthens the ladder and changes the tread count, width (0.38–0.6 m) sets the stile spacing, and handleSwing (0–1.3 rad) sets how far the handles fold out in the loop. The min extreme passed three-check at 784 GLB triangles and the max at 820. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its warnings are heuristics: repeated material names (one instance per mesh), non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested roller and wheel hubs, parts that sit on separate pivot groups, and a 2.12 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 12 planned ids. Fix round 1 loosened the view framing so the hooks and wheels are not cropped. Fix round 2 enlarged the top rollers and narrowed their cheeks so the rollers read in the hero view.
About the Rolling ladder 3D model
Rolling ladder is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 58 cm × 2.1 m × 65 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 808 triangles across 17 meshes, with 12 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 108 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Rolling ladder 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 108 KB: 808 triangles, 2,424 vertices and 17 materials, modelled in metres at 58 cm × 2.1 m × 65 cm.
- Is Rolling ladder animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Rolling ladder 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
