Globe

A low-poly floor-standing library globe: a faceted green-sea globe with parchment and coloured continents, tilted on brass pivots in a brass meridian ring, set in a mahogany horizon ring with a parchment face on four cabriole legs with a cross stretcher and turned post.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Globe for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 0.98 m tall to the north pivot knob, a 0.46 m globe whose centre is 0.70 m above the floor, and a 0.66 × 0.66 m footprint across the horizon ring and feet. That is a typical library floor globe. Origin: bottom centre; the model rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 5,264 triangles in 16 meshes (the icosphere globe is about 2,000 of them), is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 5,554-triangle figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Each part is a group holding one mesh per palette colour (e.g. globe.forest_green_dark). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. Continents are crude, deliberately faceted shapes made of whole icosphere facets, with no names, grid lines or text; small islands drop out at this facet size. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets how many landmasses use bright kit colours instead of plain parchment. At 0 every continent is parchment. At the 0.5 default, North America, Africa and Eurasia are coloured. At 1, South America, Australia and Greenland are coloured as well. Antarctica is always warm white. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. diameter (0.36–0.56 m) scales the globe, meridian and horizon ring and moves the legs with them; the stand height stays the same. tilt tips the polar axis inside the meridian plane, and spin turns the globe on that axis. The globe is a single mesh set, so in an engine you can also spin it about its pivot axis yourself. Both extremes passed three-check: diameter 0.56 / tilt 0 / spin 200 / colours 1, and diameter 0.36 / tilt 30 / spin 360 / colours 0. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings. They cover per-colour sibling meshes overlapping inside the globe part, and parts reported as detached because they touch across part groups (the meridian sits in the stand's brass cradle; the post stands on the stretcher hub). Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 6 planned ids. Fix round 1: the hero framing cropped the front foot and a leg covered the post, so the camera moved to azimuth 22° / elevation 22° with a looser margin.

About the Globe 3D model

Globe is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 66 cm × 98 cm × 66 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,264 triangles across 16 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 385 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Globe 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 385 KB: 5,264 triangles, 15,792 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 66 cm × 98 cm × 66 cm.
Can I animate Globe?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Globe 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
