Bay window

A low-poly library bay window: a panelled room wall with a canted three-light bay behind it, warm white sashes under a lead hipped roof, and a built-in window seat with a green cushion, pillows and stacked books, framed by green curtains on a brass rod.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Bay window for the Library and Study kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Library and Study kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall shelves and a reading chair. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mahogany #602b20, forest green #3a883a, brass #b28c34, parchment #e6d6b3, mahogany dark #26110d, forest green dark #235223, mahogany light #944738, forest green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `bookColours` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Book colours" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3.4 m wide (X), 2.85 m tall and 1.3 m deep overall. The room wall is 0.2 m thick and the canted bay behind it has a 2.0 m opening, a 0.7 m projection and a 2.4 m ceiling, with a 0.43 m seat and 0.56 m sill. The room side faces +Z, origin at the bottom centre of the footprint, resting on y = 0; the wall's room face sits at z ≈ +0.50 and the bay steps out toward −Z. The back is finished as the building exterior: plain parchment wall, mahogany bay and a soot black lead hipped roof. The GLB has 1,100 triangles in 24 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip; three-check's 1,390-triangle figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and the GLB lists names more than once because the exporter clones materials per mesh. 'mid grey' is used only for the glass and is exported translucent (alpha blend, opacity 0.38). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. bookColours (the kit's 'Book colours') sets the share of book covers drawn from the bright kit colours instead of leather tones (0 = all leather browns and black); the book meshes are named per colour (books.<colour>), so which ones exist depends on it. bayWidth (1.6–2.6 m) also widens the wall (opening + 0.7 m each side); bayDepth (0.5–0.9 m) moves the back light out and raises the roof hips; curtains toggles the drapes (the rod stays). Both extremes (2.6 m / 0.9 m / colours 1 and 1.6 m / 0.5 m / no curtains) passed three-check at about 1.1–1.2k exported triangles. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings (exporter material duplicates, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, overlapping sibling boxes such as dado and panels, the picture rail, roof and one stacked book reported as detached although they sit on the wall, bay walls and the book below, and 2.85 m height against the direction's 1 m reference); its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Fix rounds: (1) narrower curtains and a hero at azimuth 24 / elevation 20 so the bay reads; (2) a book stack nudged forward so it clears the pillow at the narrowest bay.

About the Bay window 3D model

Bay window is a free low-poly 3D model from the Library and Study set. It measures 3.4 m × 2.9 m × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,100 triangles across 24 meshes, with 25 named parts. Download the 99 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Bay window 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 99 KB: 1,100 triangles, 3,300 vertices and 24 materials, modelled in metres at 3.4 m × 2.9 m × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Bay window?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 25 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Bay window 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
