Workbench wall

A low-poly, 2 m modular garage workbench wall: a brown pegboard of hanging tools under a shelf of paint cans, over a thick wooden worktop on steel legs with a red bench vise, a red rolling tool chest and a birdhouse project in its own sawdust.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Workbench wall for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2 m long (a whole number of metres on the 1 m grid), 2.19 m tall to the top of the shelf cans, and 0.69 m deep including the worktop lip (the vise jaw and handle overhang to about 0.77 m). The worktop surface is at 0.90 m. Origin: the snapping end, which is the left end seen from the front (x = 0), on the wall plane (the back face, z = 0), at floor level. The run spans x = 0 → 2, the front faces +Z, and the model rests on y = 0. Worktop, pegboard, battens and shelf run flush to both ends and nothing crosses x = 0 or x = length, so pieces butt into one continuous bench. The GLB has 2,810 triangles in 44 meshes (merged per part and palette colour), is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 3,050 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour. The default build uses 11 of the 12 swatches; concrete grey appears only in the engine project. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') picks the bench project: 0–0.33 a small engine on a drip tray with an oil can, 0.33–0.67 a birdhouse with a plank, glue and sawdust on the bench and floor (default), 0.67–1 an open red toolbox mid-repair. length (1–4 m) repeats the tool, can and upright pattern per metre; the tool chest narrows to fit a 1 m run. benchHeight moves the worktop, and the pegboard starts on it. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names (44 > 10), non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested parts overlapping, tools that touch the pegboard of a sibling group (flagged as detached), and a height over the 1 m reference.

About the Workbench wall 3D model

Workbench wall is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 2.0 m × 2.2 m × 99 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,810 triangles across 44 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 234 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Workbench wall 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 234 KB: 2,810 triangles, 8,430 vertices and 44 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 2.2 m × 99 cm.
Can I animate Workbench wall?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Workbench wall 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
