Paint tins

A low-poly floor cluster of steel paint tins: an open gallon tin of yellow paint with a stir stick and brush across its rim and its lid upturned beside it, a red-label gallon tin with a quart stacked on top, and a loose quart tin.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Paint tins for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 0.49 m wide × 0.35 m deep × 0.325 m tall (the quart stacked on the closed gallon is the top). The tins are real US sizes: gallon 0.168 m diameter × 0.19 m tall, quart 0.11 m × 0.124 m. Origin is the bottom centre of the cluster footprint, the front faces +Z, and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 2,420 triangles in 30 meshes (merged per part and palette colour). It is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 2,782 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour, and 10 of the 12 swatches are used (tool red light and dark wood are not). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') sets the colour of the paint in use (the paint, the open tin's label, the brush tip, the stick and the lid): 0–0.33 tool red (tool-chest touch-up), 0.33–0.67 yellow (floor safety lines, the default), 0.67–1 warm white (birdhouse). tinCount (1–4) adds the closed gallon, then the stacked quart, then the loose quart. The open tin, its lid, the stick and the brush are always present. fillLevel moves the paint surface in the open tin. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was also validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested shells overlapping, the brush and paint flagged as detached because they rest on the tin rather than the ground, and a height under the 1 m reference.

About the Paint tins 3D model

Paint tins is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 51 cm × 33 cm × 37 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,420 triangles across 30 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 197 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Paint tins 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 197 KB: 2,420 triangles, 7,260 vertices and 30 materials, modelled in metres at 51 cm × 33 cm × 37 cm.
Can I animate Paint tins?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Paint tins 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
