Storage loft

A low-poly freestanding garage storage loft: a plywood deck on grey steel uprights and red box beams, with a yellow guard rail, a steel ladder hooked over the front, storage totes and a lumber bundle up top, and paint cans, a red toolbox and a box on the lower shelf.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Storage loft for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2.4 m wide × 1.2 m deep across the steel posts, deck top at 2.0 m, 2.65 m tall to the post caps (totes reach 2.65 m too). The leaning ladder's feet stand about 0.6 m in front of the posts, so the full footprint is about 1.8 m deep. Origin: bottom centre of the post footprint, on y = 0, with the ladder side facing +Z. The GLB has 1,420 triangles in 34 meshes (merged per part and palette colour), is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 1,710 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour. The default build uses 11 of the 12 swatches; tool red light is not used. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') picks what is stored at the front of the deck: 0–0.33 a red kayak on cradles, 0.33–0.67 a lumber bundle with a glued-up panel, clamp and sawdust (default), 0.67–1 a half-built white cabinet carcass with a clamp. width (1.8–3.0 m) adds a middle pair of uprights above 2.2 m and fits as many totes as there is room for. deckHeight (1.8–2.2 m) moves the deck, rail and ladder together. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names (34 > 10), non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested parts overlapping, rails and deck items that rest on another part group (flagged as detached), and a height over the 1 m reference.

About the Storage loft 3D model

Storage loft is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 2.4 m × 2.6 m × 1.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,420 triangles across 34 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 128 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Storage loft 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 128 KB: 1,420 triangles, 4,260 vertices and 34 materials, modelled in metres at 2.4 m × 2.6 m × 1.8 m.
Can I animate Storage loft?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Storage loft 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
