Pegboards

A low-poly freestanding garage pegboard tool wall: two brown perforated panels in a dark-wood frame on splayed feet, hung with a saw, hammer, square and clamps, a red parts bin and a coiled yellow extension lead, with a woodworking project on the bottom shelf.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Pegboards for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.35 m wide, 1.73 m tall to the upright caps and 0.54 m deep across the feet (two sawdust mounds on the floor in front reach z = 0.42). Origin: bottom centre, resting on y = 0; the tool side faces +Z. The GLB has 2,016 triangles in 23 meshes (merged per part and palette colour), is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 2,306 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour. The default build uses 10 of the 12 swatches; concrete grey appears only with the mechanic project, and tool red light only on screwdriver handles and a tape roll in the other tool sets. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') picks the tool set and the shelf project: 0–0.33 mechanic (wrenches, socket rail, screwdrivers, pliers; a red toolbox and an oil can), 0.33–0.67 woodworking (saw, hammer, square, F-clamps; offcuts, a glued box and sawdust; default), 0.67–1 painting (brushes, roller, tape and scraper; paint cans). panels (1–3) adds 0.65 m bays, each with its own feet. boardHeight (0.9–1.5 m) raises the frame; tools hang from the top rail. Both extremes (3 panels / 1.5 m / mechanic, about 3.8k tris, and 1 panel / 0.9 m / painting) were rendered and passed three-check. The hole grid is a stylised 76 mm pitch, drawn as black squares on both faces rather than cut through. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, and tools that overlap the board in bounding-box terms.

About the Pegboards 3D model

Pegboards is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 1.4 m × 1.7 m × 70 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,016 triangles across 23 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 161 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Pegboards 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 161 KB: 2,016 triangles, 6,048 vertices and 23 materials, modelled in metres at 1.4 m × 1.7 m × 70 cm.
Can I animate Pegboards?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Pegboards 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
