Roller door

A low-poly garage roller door: a ribbed tool-red slat curtain part-raised between two steel guide channels into a hooded coil box, with a yellow-and-black hazard-striped bottom bar, a side drive motor, a key switch and a warning beacon.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Roller door for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: a 3.0 m × 2.4 m clear opening; the whole assembly is about 3.64 m wide (coil box 3.32 m plus the motor on the right end), 3.0 m tall to the beacon top (2.88 m to the coil box top) and 0.5 m deep. It is sized to sit in the Garage Workshop garage's vehicle bay. Origin is at the bottom centre of the opening, so the motor makes the bounds slightly asymmetric toward +X. The sill rests on y = 0, and the curtain's outside face looks along +Z with the coil box set back toward −Z. 1,520 triangles across 18 meshes, merged per part and colour, counted from the GLB. Static, with no animation clip. Material names match kit palette colours exactly, and 9 of the 12 are used (pegboard brown, dark wood and tool red light are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. They change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. width and height resize the opening, rails, curtain and coil box. open lifts the curtain and bottom bar from closed (0) to about 0.45 m of curtain showing (1). Slats above the opening are hidden in the coil box rather than modelled as a coil. projectType (kit 'Project type') runs from woodshop (0: a galvanised grey curtain with fine 85 mm slats) to car project (1: a red curtain with deeper 120 mm slats). The curtain turns red from 0.34, and a soot-black ventilation slot row appears from 0.5. The asset is the door alone, with no wall around it. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings: duplicate materials (per-mesh materials), sibling overlaps where flanges, plates and the lip embed in rails and the hood, the material count, and height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. A de-hyphenated copy passes, three-check accepts the ids, and all 6 survive the GLB reload.

About the Roller door 3D model

Roller door is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 3.7 m × 3.0 m × 51 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,520 triangles across 18 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 95 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Roller door 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 95 KB: 1,520 triangles, 2,892 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 3.7 m × 3.0 m × 51 cm.
Can I animate Roller door?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Roller door 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
