Shed

A low-poly backyard workshop shed: brown shiplap walls with white trims, an apex felt roof, red ledged-and-braced double doors swung open onto a dark interior with a bench, and an open lean-to store of timber and project kit on its side.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Shed for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the shed is 3.0 m wide × 2.4 m deep, 2.04 m to the eaves and 2.84 m to the ridge (28° pitch), 3.05 m to the finial tops. With the 0.95 m lean-to on the right (+X) side and the concrete pad, overall bounds are about 4.35 m wide × 2.9 m deep (the open left door leaf swings about 0.6 m beyond the pad's front edge). Origin is at the bottom centre of the shed footprint, not the bounding box, so the lean-to pushes the bounds toward +X. The pad sits on y = 0 and the doors face +Z. 2,820 triangles across 33 meshes, merged per part and colour. Static, with no animation clip. Materials are named exactly after kit palette colours; 10 of the 12 are used (tool red light and mid grey are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt. width scales the span, gable rise, door and bench. doorOpen swings the left leaf out up to about 100° and the right leaf up to about 17° (0 = both shut). projectType (kit 'Project type') runs from woodwork (0: six layers of timber in the lean-to, no metal kit) to metalwork (1: one plank layer, a yellow gas bottle and two red jerry cans); the default 0.5 shows four plank layers, the gas bottle and one can. Both extremes (width 2.4 / type 0 / shut, and width 4.0 / type 1 / fully open) also pass three-check. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (the per-mesh exporter materials), sibling overlaps where trims and laps embed in the walls, and height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. A de-hyphenated copy passes, three-check accepts the ids, and all 8 survive the GLB reload.

About the Shed 3D model

Shed is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 4.4 m × 3.0 m × 3.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,820 triangles across 33 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 170 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Shed 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 170 KB: 2,820 triangles, 5,174 vertices and 33 materials, modelled in metres at 4.4 m × 3.0 m × 3.2 m.
Can I animate Shed?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Shed 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
