Garage shell
A low-poly single-bay workshop garage shell: grey block walls on a dark plinth, a part-raised red sectional door between yellow bollards, a timber side door, framed windows and a seamed gable roof with gutters, downpipes and a roof extractor. The interior is dark and empty apart from a pegboard wall, ready for the rest of the Garage Workshop kit.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Garage shell for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the building is 6.0 m wide × 7.0 m deep, 3.12 m to the eaves and 4.33 m to the roof ridge (22° pitch), with the roof extractor cap at 5.25 m. Overall bounds are about 7.1 m wide × 9.1 m deep including the roof overhangs, the 1.6 m front apron and the side-door step. The main door opening is 3.0 m × 2.5 m at the default projectType. Origin is at the bottom centre of the building footprint, not the bounding box: the apron pushes the bounds toward +Z. The slab sits on y = 0 and the main door faces +Z. 2,916 triangles across 39 meshes, merged per part and colour. Static, with no animation clip. Materials are named exactly after kit palette colours. 11 of the 12 are used: tool red light is not used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt. width scales the span and gable rise. doorOpen raises the sectional curtain (0 = closed, 1 = almost fully up) onto a dark, empty interior with a pegboard wall and a strip light. projectType (kit 'Project type') runs from woodshop (0: a 2.4 m × 2.3 m bay with a pegboard-brown timber overhead door below 0.34) to car project (1: a 3.6 m × 2.7 m bay, capped at width − 1.8 m, with a red steel sectional door with a glazed row). The interior is a shell: benches and tools come from the other kit parts. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings. These are the material count (per-mesh materials), duplicate materials (the same cause), sibling overlaps where trim embeds in walls, three parts flagged as detached (the extractor and strip light embed in the roof, and the pegboard hangs on the back wall, all in other part groups), and height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. A de-hyphenated copy passes, three-check accepts the ids, and all 11 survive the GLB reload.
About the Garage shell 3D model
Garage shell is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 7.1 m × 5.3 m × 9.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,916 triangles across 39 meshes, with 11 named parts. Download the 175 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Garage shell 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 175 KB: 2,916 triangles, 5,104 vertices and 39 materials, modelled in metres at 7.1 m × 5.3 m × 9.1 m.
- Can I animate Garage shell?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 11 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Garage shell 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
