Radios

A low-poly jobsite workshop radio: a chamfered body box inside a tubular roll cage whose top rails are the carry handles, with twin front speakers, a tuning window and knobs, preset buttons on top and a raised telescopic antenna.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Radios for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 0.40 m wide × 0.28 m deep × 0.40 m tall to the top of the roll cage; with the antenna raised (default 0.32 m) the model is 0.683 m tall. Origin is the bottom centre, the front (speakers, tuning window, knobs) faces +Z, and the model rests on y = 0 on its cage hoops and corner bumpers. The GLB has 2,096 triangles in 24 meshes (merged per part and palette colour). It is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 2,194 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour; 9 of the 12 swatches are used at the default (pegboard brown, dark wood and tool red dark are not). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') sets the body shell colour: 0–0.33 yellow (jobsite), 0.33–0.67 tool red (workshop, the default), 0.67–1 concrete grey light (hobby corner); the power button switches to tool red when the shell is yellow. antennaLength extends the three-section telescopic antenna; speakerSize sets both speaker radii. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was also validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested shells overlapping (fascia on body, cage mounts), and the top buttons and back vents flagged as detached because they sit on the body rather than the ground. The dial carries tick marks and a needle only — no text or logos.

About the Radios 3D model

Radios is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 40 cm × 68 cm × 32 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,096 triangles across 24 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 168 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Radios 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 168 KB: 2,096 triangles, 6,288 vertices and 24 materials, modelled in metres at 40 cm × 68 cm × 32 cm.
Can I animate Radios?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Radios 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
