Spare tyres

A low-poly pile of spare car tyres: three bare tyres stacked flat, with a mounted spare wheel on a red steel rim leaning against the stack.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Spare tyres for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 0.95 m wide × 0.66 m deep × 0.66 m tall. The tyres are 0.64 m across and 0.2 m wide, a common passenger size on a 15-inch (0.38 m bead) steel wheel. The stack is 0.6 m tall, and the leaning spare wheel is the highest point. Origin is the bottom centre of the footprint, the front faces +Z, and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 4,292 triangles in 11 meshes (merged per part and palette colour). It is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's 4,582 figure also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Garage Workshop palette colour (5 of the 12 are used). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') sets the spare wheel's rim finish: 0–0.33 bare steel (concrete grey light, a daily-driver fix), 0.33–0.67 tool red (hot-rod build, the default), 0.67–1 yellow (go-kart racer). stackCount (2–4) sets how many bare tyres are stacked; the spare always re-rests against the stack's edge. tyreWidth (0.16–0.26 m) changes every tyre's width and so the stack height. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was also validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the hyphenated ids. glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: per-mesh material instances that share palette names (which is why it counts 11 materials), non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested rim and tyre shells overlapping, and the lug nuts flagged as detached because they sit on the wheel disc rather than the ground.

About the Spare tyres 3D model

Spare tyres is a free low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 95 cm × 66 cm × 66 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,292 triangles across 11 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 312 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Spare tyres 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 312 KB: 4,292 triangles, 12,876 vertices and 11 materials, modelled in metres at 95 cm × 66 cm × 66 cm.
Can I animate Spare tyres?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Spare tyres 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
