Project car

A low-poly classic two-door fastback coupe, part-way through restoration: a tool-red body with a grey primer bonnet and front fender, round headlamps, a dark grille and chrome-grey blade bumpers. In a seamless 8-second loop the bonnet lifts on its rear hinge to show the engine and its yellow air cleaner, the driver door swings open and shut, and the front wheels steer.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Project car for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 4.79 m long over the bumpers, 1.89 m wide over the door handles and 1.30 m tall at the roof (2.75 m wheelbase, 0.66 m wheels). The origin is at the bottom centre, the tyres rest on y = 0, and the front faces +Z. The driver side is +X (left-hand drive). The exported model has 2,280 triangles. three-check reports 2,570, but that figure includes the viewer's ground disc, which is not exported. The 8 s clip 'scene-motion' starts and ends at rest. The bonnet lifts up to 0.95 rad on its rear hinge at the cowl (0–3.8 s), the left door swings out up to 1.0 rad on its front hinge (4.2–7.7 s), and the front wheels steer ±0.22 rad on kingpins through the wheel centres. The body never moves, and the wheels do not roll. Because the bonnet opens, glb-lint's animated bounds reach 1.83 m. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 8 of the 12 are used at the defaults. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. projectType (kit 'Project type') picks the build. Below 0.34 it is a barn find: a concrete grey body, a primer bonnet and driver door, pegboard-brown rust patches and dark steel rims. From 0.34 up to 0.67 it is the default mid-restoration: a tool-red body with a primer bonnet and front fender. From 0.67 up it is a show car: all tool red, twin yellow stripes over the bonnet, roof and boot, yellow hub caps and red valve covers. openAmount scales how far the bonnet and door open in the loop; the baked clip uses the default of 1. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, intended nesting (door apertures, engine in its bay), and hinged panels flagged as detached because they attach across groups. Its verdict line reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; a copy with the hyphens removed passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 18 survive the GLB reload.

About the Project car 3D model

Project car is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 1.9 m × 1.8 m × 4.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,280 triangles across 34 meshes, with 18 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 242 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Project car 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 242 KB: 2,280 triangles, 5,440 vertices and 34 materials, modelled in metres at 1.9 m × 1.8 m × 4.8 m.
Is Project car animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Project car 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
