Drill press
A low-poly floor-standing drill press for a home garage: a cast base, a steel column, a tool red head and belt guard with a yellow switch box, a motor hung off the back, a three-spoke feed handle and a round table holding a pine board. It has a seamless 4 s loop: the chuck spins and feeds down into the board while the feed handle turns.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Drill press for the Garage Workshop kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Garage Workshop kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tools, projects and sawdust. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: concrete grey #757e8a, tool red #c32222, pegboard brown #6b4a2e, yellow #eecd2b, concrete grey dark #525860, tool red dark #821717, concrete grey light #a3a5a8, tool red light #db5757, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `projectType` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Project type" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 1.56 m tall to the belt-guard lid, 0.42 m wide and 0.69 m deep including the motor at the back and the feed spokes. The table top is at 0.70 m. It is a floor-standing pillar drill. Origin: bottom centre (bounding-box footprint), front (switch box, table) facing +Z, resting on y = 0 on the base. The GLB has 1,992 triangles in 30 meshes (merged per part and palette colour) and uses all 12 Garage Workshop palette colours. Every material is named exactly after its colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name can repeat: recolour by name. The baked clip scene-motion (4 s, seamless) moves three parts, each on its own pivot. The spindle (chuck and bit) spins 6 whole turns about its axis. The quill and spindle feed down 0.07 m and back on a 1 − cos curve, and the bit goes into the board at mid-loop. The feed handle turns about its pinion shaft by drop ÷ 0.03 m. The base, column, head, motor, table and workpiece never move. The spin is far slower than a real drill so it reads in the viewer. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. projectType (the kit's 'Project type') picks the job on the table: 0–0.33 a steel plate in a dark red drill vice, 0.33–0.67 a pine board with drilled holes and sawdust (default), 0.67–1 a dark wood wheel blank. tableHeight moves the table and collar. quillTravel sets the feed depth, capped so the bit never enters the table. spinTurns sets 2–10 spindle turns per loop. Only the default params were rendered and checked; the extremes were not captured. Fix rounds: a missing favicon 404, tight framing plus a stray motor cable, and two face-to-face contacts. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its warnings are expected for this pipeline: material count and duplicates (one material per mesh), non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat shading), nested overlaps, and 'detached' on the column. The column plugs into the base flange and the head, but it is the only mesh in its part. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no host requirements contract was supplied. plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids this library requires, so the plan was validated on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS). three-check accepts the real ids, and all 10 survive the GLB reload.
About the Drill press 3D model
Drill press is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Garage Workshop set. It measures 42 cm × 1.6 m × 75 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,992 triangles across 30 meshes, with 10 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 187 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Drill press 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 187 KB: 1,992 triangles, 5,976 vertices and 30 materials, modelled in metres at 42 cm × 1.6 m × 75 cm.
- Is Drill press animated?
- Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Drill press 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
