Wind machine

A low-poly film-studio wind machine: a big lamp-yellow drum fan with wire guards and a rear motor, hung on trunnions in a black yoke on a turntable, on a four-caster cart with a timber deck, push handle and speed box. It carries a 6-second seamless loop in which the propeller spins, the yoke sweeps side to side and the drum nods.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Wind machine for the Film Studio kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Film Studio kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Sets, lights and fake walls. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: black #151619, lamp yellow #eecd2b, wood #7d5736, red carpet #c32222, black dark #090a0b, lamp yellow dark #bda00f, black light #3a3c40, lamp yellow light #f0db75, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `filmGenreOnSet` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Film genre on set" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

  • Wind machine
  • Cart base
  • Yoke and turntable
  • Drum and guards
  • Propeller

Note: Size: 1.86 m tall, 1.45 m wide across the tilt-lock knobs, 1.2 m deep from the push handle to the front guard; the drum is 1.1 m across and 0.42 m deep with its axis 1.25 m off the floor. The origin is on the floor under the turntable axis, the four casters rest on y = 0, and the fan blows toward +Z. The GLB has 3,476 triangles in 17 meshes and one 6 s clip, 'scene-motion', that loops seamlessly: the propeller spins nine whole turns about the drum axis, the yoke sweeps ±30° once about the turntable axis and the drum nods ±4.6° twice about its trunnions. The cart never moves. Hierarchy: root > base, yoke > head > rotor; each pivot node sits exactly on its hinge with an identity rest rotation, so in an engine you can drive yoke (Y), head (X) and rotor (Z) yourself. 8 of the 12 kit colours are used at the default setting and every material is named exactly after its palette colour; the exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name repeats — recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; drumDiameter also raises the yoke so the drum clears the crossbar. filmGenreOnSet (the kit's 'Film genre on set') dresses the machine in three steps: below 0.34 period (wood propeller and spinner, pale wood deck); 0.34–0.67 drama (charcoal propeller, dark wood deck, the default); above 0.67 action (red-carpet blade tips and lamp-yellow-dark guards). Param extremes were checked in a scratch copy and pass three-check and glb-lint. glb-lint: 0 errors; its verdict prints UNVERIFIED because 5 rules need a requirements contract or a manual review, and its 4 warnings are expected (per-mesh materials over the direction's count, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, nested overlapping cart boxes). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; a copy with the hyphens removed passes, and three-check accepts the ids, all 5 of which survive the GLB reload.

About the Wind machine 3D model

Wind machine is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Film Studio set. It measures 1.5 m × 1.9 m × 1.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,476 triangles across 17 meshes, with 5 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 272 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Wind machine 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 272 KB: 3,476 triangles, 10,428 vertices and 17 materials, modelled in metres at 1.5 m × 1.9 m × 1.2 m.
Is Wind machine animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Wind machine 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
