How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Clapperboards for the Film Studio kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Film Studio kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Sets, lights and fake walls. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: black #151619, lamp yellow #eecd2b, wood #7d5736, red carpet #c32222, black dark #090a0b, lamp yellow dark #bda00f, black light #3a3c40, lamp yellow light #f0db75, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `filmGenreOnSet` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Film genre on set" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 0.45 m tall with the clapper open (0.33 m closed), 0.35 m wide (the stand; the board is 0.30 m) and 0.11 m deep. The origin is at the bottom centre of the stand, it rests on y = 0, and the slate faces +Z. The GLB has 512 triangles in 10 meshes and no animation clip; it is a static asset. At the default genre it uses 6 of the 12 kit colours, and every material is named exactly after its palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a name can repeat; recolour by name. The slate carries raised grid lines but no lettering, so there are no scene numbers or text. The upper stick ('clapper' node) is pivoted at the hinge corner, so in an engine you can clap it by rotating that node about Z. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. filmGenreOnSet (the kit's 'Film genre on set') restyles the board in three steps: below 0.34 period (a wood-framed slate); 0.34–0.67 drama (classic black and white, the default); above 0.67 action/sci-fi (lamp-yellow and black sticks with lamp-yellow-light lines on a black-light slate). The other genres bring in wood, lamp yellow, lamp yellow light and black light. Both param extremes were checked and pass three-check. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict prints UNVERIFIED because 5 rules need a requirements contract or a manual review. Its 5 heuristic warnings are expected: per-mesh duplicate materials, non-indexed flat-shaded geometry, stripe prisms nested inside the stick bounds, the hinge flagged as 'detached' even though its pin passes through both sticks, and a 'scale' note, because a 0.45 m prop is small next to its 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; a copy with the hyphens removed passes, and three-check accepts the ids, all 7 of which survive the GLB reload.

About the Clapperboards 3D model

Clapperboards is a free low-poly 3D model from the Film Studio set. It measures 35 cm × 45 cm × 11 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 512 triangles across 10 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 45 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Clapperboards 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 45 KB: 512 triangles, 1,536 vertices and 10 materials, modelled in metres at 35 cm × 45 cm × 11 cm.
Can I animate Clapperboards?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Clapperboards 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
