Chimney Sweep

A wiry, grinning papercraft chimney sweep folded from card: grey flat cap, soot-smudged cheeks, black jacket with a red neckerchief, black trousers and heavy boots, holding a round chimney brush upright on a jointed rod in his right hand. Rigged in T-pose on the shared Mixamo-named skeleton.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A wiry man in his 20s, about 1.74 m tall. Grinning, with soot smudges on the cheeks. Wearing a grey flat cap, a black jacket, a red neckerchief, black trousers and heavy black boots. Palette: soot black, red, grey. Holding a round chimney brush on a short jointed rod, upright, in the right hand. Papercraft style. No text, logos, brand names or lettering anywhere.

Note: 2,942 flat-shaded triangles (split face normals, so the card creases show in any engine). Crown at 1.74 m; the flat cap brings the head to about 1.79 m, and the brush held upright reaches 2.09 m. Soles at y = 0, facing +Z. 25 mixamorig bones, no finger bones (mitten left hand, closed right fist). Every bone has an identity rest rotation (world-aligned, the same convention as the rest of the library), so retarget Mixamo or other clips by bone name with a rest-pose-aware retargeter (Blender, Unity Humanoid, Godot BoneMap, three.js SkeletonUtils.retargetClip) rather than copying raw Mixamo quaternions. Seven skinned meshes share one skeleton (one glTF skin each, same 25 joints). Each vertex has at most 3 weights, normalised, blended across short bands at the neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and ankles. Clothing uses the same weight functions as the body under it. The head, face print, hair and cap are 100% on mixamorig:Head. The chimney brush (rod, ferrules, hub and three slotted star cuts) is a separate mesh weighted 100% to mixamorig:RightHand. Papercraft surfaces are flat colours by role with no textures: white 'paper' material on every modelled cut edge (8 mm card thickness on hems, cuffs, brim, flaps and neckerchief) and on the glue tabs. The model root's part id is 'sweep' (the kit's part-id pattern has no hyphen); mesh parts use the chimney-sweep.* ids. In three.js, GLTFLoader strips ':' and '.' from names (mixamorigHips, chimney-sweepbody). The exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so the GLB has 22 material entries for 12 roles. glb-lint with only --plan reports UNVERIFIED (no requirements contract, 0 errors); with design-check/requirements.json it is PASS with 0 errors. No lights, cameras, ground or animation clips.

About the Chimney Sweep 3D model

Chimney Sweep is a free papercraft 3D model from the Trades and services characters set, rigged with a 25-bone Mixamo-compatible skeleton. It measures 1.8 m × 2.1 m × 37 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,942 triangles across 22 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 326 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Chimney Sweep 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 326 KB: 2,942 triangles, 21,329 vertices and 22 materials, modelled in metres at 1.8 m × 2.1 m × 37 cm.
Is Chimney Sweep animated?
It ships without a baked clip, in its bind pose. It is rigged with a 25-bone Mixamo-compatible skeleton, so it takes retargeted animation.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Chimney Sweep 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
