Butcher

A heavy-set, jovial butcher in comic-ink style: straw boater with a navy band, white shirt with rolled sleeves and a red neckerchief, navy-and-white striped apron, dark trousers, and a meat cleaver in his right fist. Rigged in T-pose on the shared Mixamo-named skeleton.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A heavy-set man in his 40s, about 1.78 m tall. Jovial expression. Wearing a straw boater hat with a navy band, a navy-and-white vertically striped apron over a white shirt with rolled sleeves, dark trousers and black shoes. Palette: navy stripe, white, red. Holding a meat cleaver in the right hand. Comic ink style. No text, logos, brand names or lettering anywhere.

Note: 14,440 triangles including the outline shell; soles at y = 0, facing +Z. The crown of the head is at 1.78 m and the boater adds about 3 cm (bounds 1.82 m with the outline). The head and hat are drawn 12% over life size for the comic read. 25 mixamorig bones, no finger bones (block fists weighted to the Hand bones). Every bone has an identity rest rotation (world-aligned), so retarget Mixamo or other clips by bone name with a rest-pose-aware retargeter (Blender, Unity Humanoid, Godot BoneMap, three.js SkeletonUtils.retargetClip) rather than copying raw Mixamo quaternions. Eight skinned meshes share one skeleton (one glTF skin each, same 25 joints). Weights: at most 4 per vertex, normalised, blended over short bands at the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees and neck. The cleaver is weighted 100% to mixamorig:RightHand and the hat 100% to mixamorig:Head. The comic look ships in the file: one 256x32 ink-hatch texture drawn in code is embedded, and each vertex's UV picks its hatch density from a baked key light (upper front, from the character's right). The black outline is a real inverted-hull mesh (butcher.outline), skinned with the same weights and using an unlit single-sided material, so it renders in any glTF viewer without a custom shader. Because the shading is baked, it does not change when the character is lit differently or turned. The 3-step cel ramp seen in the studio viewer is viewer-only. The GLB stores the toon materials as matte PBR (metallic 0, roughness 1) with the hatch map. The exporter writes one material copy per mesh, so there are 16 material entries for 13 roles. In three.js, GLTFLoader strips ':' and '.' from names (mixamorigHips, butcherbody). glb-lint run with only --plan reports UNVERIFIED (no requirements contract); with design-check/requirements.json it is PASS with 0 errors. No lights, cameras, ground or animation clips.

About the Butcher 3D model

Butcher is a free toon 3D model from the Trades and services characters set, rigged with a 25-bone Mixamo-compatible skeleton. It measures 1.7 m × 1.8 m × 56 cm (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 14,440 triangles across 16 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 526 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Butcher 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 526 KB: 14,440 triangles, 13,566 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 1.7 m × 1.8 m × 56 cm.
Is Butcher animated?
It ships without a baked clip, in its bind pose. It is rigged with a 25-bone Mixamo-compatible skeleton, so it takes retargeted animation.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Butcher 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
