Barrels
A low-poly group of three Norse coopered barrels for the Viking Fjord Village kit: a tall hooped cask with a plank lid and a red owner's band, a shorter open barrel, and a cask laid on wedge chocks with a wooden tap.

Left rail: colours and the 4 knobs the agent wrote into this model — they rebuild the geometry and go into your download. Right rail: looks for the viewer. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Barrels for the Viking Fjord Village kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Viking Fjord Village kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Longhouses under steep cliffs. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: timber brown #6b4a2e, slate #525e6f, sea grey #757e8a, rust red #c32222, timber brown dark #362517, slate dark #323943, timber brown light #9b704b, slate light #7b8593, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `season` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 1.25 m wide (x) × 1.43 m deep (z) × 1.03 m tall (y). The tall barrel is 0.90 m high (1.03 m to the lid ring) and about 0.56 m across the belly. The short barrel is 0.66 m high, and the lying cask is 0.78 m long. The tap faces +Z. The origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint, and everything rests on y = 0 (the lying cask on its belly ridge). The GLB has 3,144 triangles in 16 meshes. It is static, carries no animation clip, and has flat-baked normals (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. Seven of the 12 colours are used at the defaults; warm white appears only as snow. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. season (the kit's 'Season', 0 = high summer, 1 = deep winter) caps the lid and the open head with snow above 0.55 and lays drifts along the top of the lying cask. At the default of 0.5 there is no snow. barrelCount: 1 = the tall barrel only, 2 adds the lying cask and chocks, 3 adds the short barrel. height scales the whole group, and bulge sets how far each belly swells. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 4 expected heuristic warnings: more than 10 materials (one per mesh), duplicate material names, non-indexed flat shading, and overlapping sibling boxes (hoops, heads and lid nest on the staves). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated. three-check and the GLB keep all 6 ids. There was one fix round: the short barrel was moved back clear of the lying cask, and the hero was framed looser so the chocks and tap aren't cropped. Winter (season = 1) was also rendered and checked.
About the Barrels 3D model
Barrels is a free low-poly 3D model from the Viking Fjord Village set. It measures 1.2 m × 1.0 m × 1.4 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,144 triangles across 16 meshes, with 6 named parts. Download the 312 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Barrels 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 312 KB: 3,144 triangles, 9,432 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 1.2 m × 1.0 m × 1.4 m.
- Can I animate Barrels?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 6 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Barrels 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
