Gate tower

A low-poly mud-brick caravanserai gatehouse with a tall pointed-arch portal framed in indigo and saffron tilework, flanked by two octagonal crenellated towers. Dark-wood gate leaves stand open inside the camel-wide passage, and traders' carpets and saffron sacks are laid out at its foot.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Gate tower for the Silk Road Caravanserai kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Silk Road Caravanserai kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A walled inn for desert traders. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mud brick #9e3d2e, indigo #2d2d76, saffron #eead2b, carpet red #c32222, mud brick dark #63261d, indigo dark #18183f, mud brick light #c66253, indigo light #4848a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `goodsOnSale` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Goods on sale" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at defaults: 7 m long (7 grid cells) × about 7.2 m deep including the goods stands (the building itself is about 6 m deep from the back beam ends to the tower fronts) × 9.75 m tall to the tower merlons. The gatehouse block is 7 m tall and the pishtaq portal 8.4 m. The passage is 3 m wide with a pointed arch 5.3 m high, sized for a loaded camel. Modular: length is whole metres along +X. The origin is at the snapping end (x = 0), centred in depth on the gatehouse block, with the plinths resting on y = 0. Everything stays inside x 0 to length, so the next wall module snaps at x = length. The block is inset 4 cm from both end planes so the plinth and cornice can stand proud without crossing them. This differs from the library's bottom-centre origin because the brief asks for the origin at the snapping end. The front, with the portal and goods, faces +Z; the back (courtyard side) has its own tiled arch mouth and beam ends. The GLB has 2,308 triangles in 29 meshes (one per part and colour) and no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and all 12 are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. There is no text, calligraphy or logo; the tilework is modelled bands, stars and niches. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. goodsOnSale (the kit's 'Goods on sale') sets 0 to 4 hung carpets and 0 to 6 saffron sacks, and adds the rolled carpets above 0.2. The stands stay even at 0. gateOpen swings the two leaves inward from closed to 84 degrees. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings. Two are about the material count and duplicate materials, both caused by per-mesh materials. One flags sibling overlaps where plinths, cornices and slits are deliberately embedded. One flags the beam ends and tower crowns as detached, but both are embedded in the wall and the shafts. The last compares the 9.75 m height with the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes on a copy with the hyphens removed from the ids; its part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 7 survive the GLB reload.

About the Gate tower 3D model

Gate tower is a free low-poly 3D model from the Silk Road Caravanserai set. It measures 7.0 m × 9.8 m × 7.2 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,308 triangles across 29 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 134 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Gate tower 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 134 KB: 2,308 triangles, 3,944 vertices and 29 materials, modelled in metres at 7.0 m × 9.8 m × 7.2 m.
Can I animate Gate tower?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Gate tower 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
