Well pulley

A low-poly caravanserai well hoist: two dark-wood posts and a crossbeam over an indigo-tiled octagonal mud-brick curb, with a saffron-flanged pulley wheel, a rope-wound windlass and crank, and a wooden bucket. It carries an 8-second loop of the bucket being lowered into the well and wound back up.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Well pulley for the Silk Road Caravanserai kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Silk Road Caravanserai kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A walled inn for desert traders. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mud brick #9e3d2e, indigo #2d2d76, saffron #eead2b, carpet red #c32222, mud brick dark #63261d, indigo dark #18183f, mud brick light #c66253, indigo light #4848a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `goodsOnSale` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Goods on sale" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 2.89 m tall to the beam knobs, 2.88 m wide (X, beam end to crank grip) and 2.0 m deep (Z). The platform is 2.8 × 2.0 m, the curb is 1.4 m across and 0.55 m high, and the beam underside is at 2.45 m. The origin is at the bottom centre of the platform, so the crank makes the model 9 cm wider on +X. Everything rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 1,908 triangles in 27 meshes and one 8 s clip, 'scene-motion'. In the clip the bucket drops 0.85 m into the shaft and is wound back up. The pulley wheel turns on its yoke pin and the drum and crank turn on their axle, each by exactly the rope paid out (travel ÷ radius), so the loop is seamless. The hanging rope is a unit-length part pivoted at the wheel's tangent point and scaled along Y, so the clip carries a scale track for it. The platform, curb, posts and beam never move. The GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s pose (the bucket about halfway down), because the checker exports after its determinism seek. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 11 of the 12 colours are used; indigo light is not. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. goodsOnSale (the kit's 'Goods on sale' knob) sets how many clay water jars stand on the platform front: round(goodsOnSale × 4), with 2 at the default. At 0 the 'goods' part is absent. postHeight raises the beam, wheel and rope together, and bucketTravel sets how far the bucket drops. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 6 warnings, all expected. They cover per-mesh duplicate materials, more materials than the direction's soft max of 10 for the same reason, deliberately non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, nested sibling meshes (the tile band and cap wrap the curb), the hanging rope flagged as detached (it hangs from the wheel), and a 2.9 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 8 ids. Fix round: the saffron beam knobs were sunk 1 cm into the beam so they make contact.

About the Well pulley 3D model

Well pulley is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Silk Road Caravanserai set. It measures 2.9 m × 2.9 m × 2.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,908 triangles across 27 meshes, with 8 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 185 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Well pulley 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 185 KB: 1,908 triangles, 5,724 vertices and 27 materials, modelled in metres at 2.9 m × 2.9 m × 2.0 m.
Is Well pulley animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Well pulley 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
