Silk bolts

A low-poly silk merchant's display for a Silk Road caravanserai: a dark-wood bench with a pyramid of tied silk bolts stacked at the back and one saffron bolt unrolled in front, its cloth spilling over the edge in pleats.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Silk bolts for the Silk Road Caravanserai kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Silk Road Caravanserai kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A walled inn for desert traders. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: mud brick #9e3d2e, indigo #2d2d76, saffron #eead2b, carpet red #c32222, mud brick dark #63261d, indigo dark #18183f, mud brick light #c66253, indigo light #4848a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `goodsOnSale` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Goods on sale" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 1.10 m wide (X) × 1.07 m deep (Z) × 0.91 m tall. The bench top is at 0.45 m and each bolt is 0.17 m across and 0.72 m long. The origin is at the bottom centre, everything rests on y = 0, and the drape faces +Z. The GLB has 1,716 triangles in 16 meshes. It is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 8 of the 12 kit colours are used at the defaults. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. goodsOnSale (the kit's 'Goods on sale' knob) sets the stacked pyramid to 1 + round(goodsOnSale × 9) bolts: 6 (a 3-2-1 pyramid) at the default, 10 (4-3-2-1) at 1, and 1 at 0. The open bolt and drape always stay. boltWidth (0.5–0.9 m) sets the bolt length and the bench width with it. unrolled (0–1) sets how far the silk hangs down the front. The GLB bakes all params at their defaults. They only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer, and only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 warnings, all expected: material count and duplicates from the per-mesh exporter, non-indexed geometry kept on purpose for hard flat facets, and sibling overlap because the winds, cores and ties nest inside each bolt. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex does not allow hyphens. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 5 ids.

About the Silk bolts 3D model

Silk bolts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Silk Road Caravanserai set. It measures 1.1 m × 90 cm × 1.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,716 triangles across 16 meshes, with 5 named parts. Download the 134 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Silk bolts 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 134 KB: 1,716 triangles, 5,148 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 1.1 m × 90 cm × 1.1 m.
Can I animate Silk bolts?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 5 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Silk bolts 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
