Floating docks

A low-poly 4 × 4 m River Delta water tile with an L-shaped floating market dock: a plank deck on lashed log floats, held by four tall mooring piles, with a palm-thatch canopy over crates and fruit baskets. Open water fills the tile edge to edge, so it tiles with other river pieces.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Floating docks for the River Delta kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. Make it a ground piece on an exact 4 × 4 m footprint with flat edges at y = 0 that tile seamlessly with its neighbours in every direction; origin at the tile centre. This is one part of the River Delta kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Stilt houses and floating trade. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: muddy brown #43372d, palm green #3a883a, bright boat colours #b39d80, sky blue #2e67b8, muddy brown dark #15120e, palm green dark #235223, muddy brown light #6d5d50, palm green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: an exact 4 × 4 m footprint (x and z from −2 to +2), 3.22 m tall to the canopy ridge at the default water level. The origin is the tile centre at the bottom; the water slab rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The dock is an L: a 2.8 × 1.3 m main pontoon along the back with a 0.9 m wide finger pier running forward; deck top about 0.76 m, canopy eave about 1.95 m above the deck. Tiling: the water ripples fade to zero 0.35 m inside every border, so all four edges are flat water at the water level over a 0.12 m river-bed band, and nothing crosses the border; neighbours must use the same waterLevel. waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') sets the water surface from 0.25 m to 0.65 m and the whole dock floats with it, riding up and down the fixed 2.05 m mooring piles. fingerLength sets the finger pier from 0.8 to 1.7 m; cargo thins out the crates, baskets and sacks (0 = bare deck). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. The GLB has 4,906 triangles in 27 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip; three-check's 5.2k figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (11 of the 12; mid grey is unused). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so some names appear more than once; recolour by name. The water is a solid, opaque slab, not a transparent plane. glb-lint reports 0 errors and only heuristic warnings (non-indexed flat-shaded primitives, nested part boxes, model taller than the 1 m reference, the deck frame flagged as detached although it rests on the log floats). plan-check rejects the hyphenated slug part ids the library mandates; a copy with the ids de-hyphenated passes, and three-check accepts the hyphenated ids.

About the Floating docks 3D model

Floating docks is a free low-poly 3D model from the River Delta set. It measures 4.0 m × 3.2 m × 4.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,906 triangles across 27 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 369 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Floating docks 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 369 KB: 4,906 triangles, 14,718 vertices and 27 materials, modelled in metres at 4.0 m × 3.2 m × 4.0 m.
Can I animate Floating docks?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Floating docks 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
