Tool stores

A low-poly offshore tool store for an oil rig: a rust-orange 10-ft steel container with twin doors swung open on shelving racks of tool chests and a back workbench with a vise and tool board. Yellow lifting padeyes sit on the roof corners and yellow lashing straps hold it to the deck.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Tool stores for the Oil Rig kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Oil Rig kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A steel island in rough water. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: rust orange #ed7e1d, sea grey #757e8a, yellow #eecd2b, white #f4f1ec, rust orange dark #af590e, sea grey dark #525860, rust orange light #eea668, sea grey light #a3a5a8, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `seaState` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Sea state" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: an ISO-style 10-ft tool container, 2.44 m wide, 3.0 m deep and 2.59 m to the top rails (2.73 m to the padeye tops). With the lashing straps the footprint grows to about 3.1 m wide, and the open doors reach about 0.9 m in front. The doors face +Z, and the origin is at the bottom centre of the container body, which rests on y = 0 on its corner castings. The exported model has 3,708 triangles in 37 meshes (merged per part and colour), with no animation clip and flat normals baked in (non-indexed). All 12 kit colours are used, and every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same name appears on several materials: recolour by name. seaState (the kit's Sea state knob) sets the lashing: no straps below 0.15, one strap over the middle up to 0.45, and two straps near the ends above that. The default 0.5 gives two straps. length (2.4–4.5 m) stretches the container, its corrugation and its racks. doorOpen swings both leaves from shut to about 118°. shelfLevels (2–4) sets the rack shelves, and the tool chests on them come from a fixed seed. Params change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; the GLB is baked at the defaults. Both extremes passed three-check: (seaState 0, 2.4 m, shut, 2 shelves) at 3,254 rendered triangles and (seaState 1, 4.5 m, fully open, 4 shelves) at 5,666. glb-lint reports 0 errors and heuristic warnings only: duplicate materials (one per mesh), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (frame, castings and door parts nest on purpose), a detached-parts flag on the roof and wall mesh (it sits inside the frame part), and a scale hint against a 1 m reference. It also gives its standing 'no requirements contract' UNVERIFIED verdict. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens that this library's slug-based ids need; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. The viewer renders at exposure 0.6 on a ground disc that is not part of the GLB. Its shadow map can show faint light lines on the thin interior walls; this is a viewer artefact and is not in the GLB.

About the Tool stores 3D model

Tool stores is a free low-poly 3D model from the Oil Rig set. It measures 3.1 m × 2.7 m × 4.1 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,708 triangles across 37 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 292 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Tool stores 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 292 KB: 3,708 triangles, 11,124 vertices and 37 materials, modelled in metres at 3.1 m × 2.7 m × 4.1 m.
Can I animate Tool stores?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Tool stores 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
