Lobster pots

A low-poly stack of three D-shaped parlour lobster pots for the Fishing Harbour kit. Each pot has black steel hoops, blue netting, side entrances with white eye rings and a slatted timber base. The pot line runs out to a rope coil and a white marker buoy.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Lobster pots for the Fishing Harbour kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Fishing Harbour kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Boats, nets and a sea wall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sea blue #2e67b8, boat colours #988e81, rope tan #bf9769, grey stone #9c958b, sea blue dark #1f457a, boat colours dark #70685c, sea blue light #6190d1, boat colours light #b6b3af, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tide` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tide" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 1.09 m wide (x) × 1.25 m deep (z) × 0.90 m tall. Each pot is 0.52 m wide, 0.76 m long and 0.45 m tall. Two pots stand side by side on their runners on y = 0, and the third lies crosswise with its runners resting on their hoop crowns. The coil and marker buoy are at the front (+Z), and the origin is at the bottom centre of the footprint. tide (the kit's 'Tide') sets a wet line at tide × 0.6 m: every netting strand below it is the dark wet blue, as if the pots were just hauled. The GLB has 3,832 triangles in 13 meshes (one per part and colour), is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 10 of the 12 are used (boat colours and boat colours light are not). Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Both extremes passed three-check: all-min (1 pot, 0.6 m, 3 hoops, tide 0) and all-max (3 pots, 0.9 m, 5 hoops, tide 1, about 5,370 GLB triangles). glb-lint reports 0 errors. Its 5 heuristic warnings are expected: duplicate material names (one material per mesh), non-indexed flat shading, overlapping sibling boxes, and 'detached' flags on ballast and hoops, which rest on the base but sit in separate part meshes. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated, and three-check and the GLB keep all 8 ids.

About the Lobster pots 3D model

Lobster pots is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fishing Harbour set. It measures 1.1 m × 90 cm × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,832 triangles across 13 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 282 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Lobster pots 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 282 KB: 3,832 triangles, 11,496 vertices and 13 materials, modelled in metres at 1.1 m × 90 cm × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Lobster pots?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Lobster pots 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
