Gull posts
A low-poly cluster of three weathered timber harbour posts for the Fishing Harbour kit, lashed with rope and a steel strap, with a tide mark and rubble at the foot. Three herring gulls stand on the stepped post tops, which are streaked with white droppings.

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:
Gull posts for the Fishing Harbour kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Fishing Harbour kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Boats, nets and a sea wall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sea blue #2e67b8, boat colours #988e81, rope tan #bf9769, grey stone #9c958b, sea blue dark #1f457a, boat colours dark #70685c, sea blue light #6190d1, boat colours light #b6b3af, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tide` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tide" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the defaults: 1.99 m wide (x) × 1.96 m deep (z) × 4.64 m tall, counting the rubble mound and the gull on the tallest post. The three 30 cm piles are 4.2, 3.6 and 3.1 m tall, with the tallest at the back (−Z). y = 0 is the harbour bed, and no water is modelled. The origin is at the bottom centre, and every pile and rubble stone rests on y = 0. tide (the kit's 'Tide') sets the water level: the dark wet sleeve and the barnacle ring sit at 18–60 % of the shortest post's height. The GLB has 3,252 triangles in 14 meshes (one per part and colour), is static and carries no animation clip. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 8 of the 12 colours are used, and the sea blues and boat colours light are not used on this part. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. gulls is capped at the post count. Both extremes passed three-check: all-min (2 posts, 3 m, no gulls, low tide) and all-max (5 posts, 5.5 m, 5 gulls, high tide, about 5.3k GLB triangles). glb-lint reports 0 errors and 6 heuristic warnings, all expected: one material per mesh (14 materials, 8 colours), non-indexed flat shading, overlapping siblings (sleeves and straps wrap the piles), 'detached' rope and droppings (they wrap or lie on the posts but are separate merged meshes), and the scale check for a subject taller than 1 m. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated, and three-check and the GLB keep all 7 ids. There were two visual fix rounds. The first thinned the rope lashing into three turns, because it read as planks. It also toned the barnacle ring down from near-white and tucked the gulls' wings in. The second loosened the hero framing.
About the Gull posts 3D model
Gull posts is a free low-poly 3D model from the Fishing Harbour set. It measures 2.0 m × 4.6 m × 2.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 3,252 triangles across 14 meshes, with 7 named parts. Download the 321 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.
- Is the Gull posts 3D model free for commercial use?
- Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
- What file format is it, and how big is it?
- A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 321 KB: 3,252 triangles, 9,756 vertices and 14 materials, modelled in metres at 2.0 m × 4.6 m × 2.0 m.
- Can I animate Gull posts?
- It ships as a static mesh. Its 7 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
- Which engines and tools can open it?
- Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
- How was the Gull posts 3D model made?
- Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
