Dinghy

A 2.9 m clinker-planked harbour rowing dinghy with a sea blue hull, warm white sheer strake, dark wood thwarts and a pair of oars. A seamless 4 s loop rows the oars through a full stroke while the hull stays still.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Dinghy for the Fishing Harbour kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Fishing Harbour kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Boats, nets and a sea wall. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sea blue #2e67b8, boat colours #988e81, rope tan #bf9769, grey stone #9c958b, sea blue dark #1f457a, boat colours dark #70685c, sea blue light #6190d1, boat colours light #b6b3af, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `tide` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Tide" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Real-world scale: 2.9 m long, 1.3 m beam, about 0.72 m tall at the stem (3.7 m wide with the oars out). Bow faces +Z, origin at the bottom centre of the keel on y = 0. 2,886 triangles in the GLB. The clip 'scene-motion' (4 s, seamless) swivels each rowlock horn about its vertical pin and dips the oar about the same pin point. The hull never moves. The GLB carries the default pose (tide 0.5, length 2.9 m, beam 1.3 m). Tide sets the sea water level in the bilge, and below 0.04 the bilge part is an empty group. Materials are named by kit palette colour. Several meshes share a material name per part, so the kit's recolour-by-name covers all of them. glb-lint reports 0 errors, with heuristic warnings only (material count, intended nesting of hull strakes, interior parts that sit inside the hull without touching the ground). plan-check's part-id regex rejects the hyphenated slug ids the library requires, so the plan was verified on a de-hyphenated copy (PASS).

About the Dinghy 3D model

Dinghy is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Fishing Harbour set. It measures 4.1 m × 75 cm × 3.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,886 triangles across 25 meshes, with 12 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 243 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Dinghy 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 243 KB: 2,886 triangles, 5,545 vertices and 25 materials, modelled in metres at 4.1 m × 75 cm × 3.0 m.
Is Dinghy animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Dinghy 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
