Barrels

A low-poly group of 200-litre steel drums for the Factory Floor kit: a green and a yellow sealed drum, an open-head steel drum filled with green plastic pellets, and a fourth drum lying on its side held by two wooden chocks.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Barrels for the Factory Floor kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Factory Floor kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A production hall at full speed. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: machine green #3a883a, safety yellow #ffdd33, concrete #a39e99, steel #7e8c9a, machine green dark #235223, safety yellow dark #e6bf00, machine green light #5db15d, safety yellow light #ffea80, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `productMade` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Product made" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: each drum is a standard 200 L (55 US gal) steel drum, 0.585 m across the rims and 0.88 m tall. The default group is 1.20 m (X) × 2.00 m (Z) × 0.88 m tall. The origin is at the bottom centre and the model rests on y = 0 (GLB bounds y 0.000–0.880, x ±0.60, z ±1.00), with the front facing +Z. The GLB has 2,580 triangles in 26 meshes. It is static, has no animation clip, and every node is at identity because all placement is baked into the vertices. three-check's 2,870 figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a Factory Floor palette colour. The build uses 9 of the 12: concrete, safety yellow dark and safety yellow light are unused. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials; recolour by name. productMade (the kit's 'Product made') sets the pellet level in the open-head drum, eased so the default already shows from above: 0 leaves only the grey floor, 0.5 fills it to about 0.72 m, and 1 fills it to 0.78 m, just under the rim. drumCount (1–4) gives a single drum, a pair, a triangle or a 2×2 block, with the open drum always drum_1. lyingDrum adds the chocked drum in front, numbered after the standing drums, so with drumCount other than 3 the drum_N ids shift. Params are baked into the GLB at their build values. The defaults passed the full checks. The extremes (productMade 1 with 4 drums, and productMade 0 with 1 drum) render cleanly; there three-check only reports the drum ids that differ from the default plan. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 expected warnings: material count (per-mesh export), duplicate-named materials, non-indexed geometry (deliberate flat facets) and nested hoops, bands and liner on the shells. Bands are plain colour blocks with no text, hazard marks or logos. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. Fix rounds: (1) lowered exposure to 0.64 so the yellow and green no longer wash out, loosened the hero and top framing, and changed the pellets from pale yellow to machine green light; (2) raised the default fill level and steepened the hero to 36° so the product shows over the near rim.

About the Barrels 3D model

Barrels is a free low-poly 3D model from the Factory Floor set. It measures 1.2 m × 88 cm × 2.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,580 triangles across 26 meshes, with 19 named parts. Download the 206 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Barrels 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 206 KB: 2,580 triangles, 7,740 vertices and 26 materials, modelled in metres at 1.2 m × 88 cm × 2.0 m.
Can I animate Barrels?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 19 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Barrels 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
