Turning gear wheel

A dwarven forge gear wheel: a 1.46 m iron wheel with trapezoidal teeth, six spokes and a copper tyre band, turned on its axle by a copper pinion with a hand crank. Timber trestles on iron shoes carry the shaft over a casting trough of molten runoff.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Turning gear wheel for the Dwarven Forge Hall kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Dwarven Forge Hall kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A mountain hall of fire and stone. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: iron grey #757e8a, copper #b8602e, ember orange #ed7e1d, soot black #151619, iron grey dark #525860, copper dark #7a401f, iron grey light #a3a5a8, copper light #d18a61, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `lavaOnOrOff` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Lava on or off" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: 1.755 m wide, 1.874 m tall and 1.145 m deep, resting on y = 0 with the origin at the bottom centre and the wheel's face looking down +Z. The 4 s loop is driven only by the two axles: the wheel turns one revolution about its own axle, the pinion counter-turns exactly three times (its tooth ratio), and the crank rides on the pinion shaft — the two teeth sets stay meshed throughout and t=1 and t=5 renders are pixel-identical. Frame, bearings, pinion stand, trough and castings never move; the pivots are the wheel axle and the pinion shaft, both at their real hinge lines. lavaOnOrOff scales the emissive of the molten pool, its flow slabs and the embers when the model rebuilds and does not animate inside the clip; at 0 the metal is lit ember orange with no glow. toothCount steps in sixes so the pinion always carries a third of the wheel's teeth and the ratio stays exactly 3 across the range. Part ids drop hyphens to satisfy the kit id grammar; the library slug keeps them. Mid grey and warm white from the kit palette are unused on this part, so they are not declared as materials. glb-lint reports 0 errors; its two warnings are heuristic — the 44 sibling overlaps are the designed nested joins (collars around legs, bearings around the axle, the stand cap on its post) and the 13 detached parts are members that rest on the iron shoes or sit inside a collar.
