Workshop

A low-poly Venetian boatbuilder's workshop (squero) on a canal. A plastered shop with a wide open bay and a dark timber upper storey with a flower balcony stand under a steep gable tile roof, with a black boat on trestles in the yard and a slipway running down into the water.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Workshop for the Canal City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Canal City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A trading city of bridges and palaces. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: terracotta #be5937, canal green #3a883a, stone white #f4f1ec, carnival gold #d0a225, terracotta dark #823d26, canal green dark #235223, terracotta light #d08971, canal green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the default params: the building is 10.2 m wide (x) and 9.35 m deep (z), with a 2.8 m-high open shop bay. The whole model is 12.8 m wide, 18.6 m deep (yard, slipway and a 3 m canal strip in front) and 10.49 m tall to the chimney cap. Walls rise to 6.8 m under a 32° gable roof. The canal front faces +Z, the origin is at the bottom centre of the whole footprint and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 4,572 triangles in 50 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. With every param at its maximum (3 timber stacks, 40° pitch) it is 4,680 triangles. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed). Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and all 12 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. There is no text, there are no signs and there is no interior beyond the shop bay: windows are opaque soot black. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') sets the canal surface from 0.1 m to 0.6 m, always below the 0.7 m quay, so more or less of the slipway goes under. boats = 0 leaves the boats part empty and timberStacks = 0 leaves the timber part empty. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (from the per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (frames, trims and the boat on its trestles embedded on purpose) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 13 survive the GLB reload.

About the Workshop 3D model

Workshop is a free low-poly 3D model from the Canal City set. It measures 13 m × 10 m × 19 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 4,572 triangles across 50 meshes, with 13 named parts. Download the 363 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Workshop 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 363 KB: 4,572 triangles, 13,716 vertices and 50 materials, modelled in metres at 13 m × 10 m × 19 m.
Can I animate Workshop?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 13 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Workshop 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
