Palazzos

A low-poly Venetian Gothic palazzo standing in its canal. It has rose plaster over a white stone plinth, a white four-light Gothic loggia over a balcony, pointed-arch windows, a stepped water gate, striped mooring poles, funnel chimneys and a wooden roof terrace.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Palazzos for the Canal City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Canal City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A trading city of bridges and palaces. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: terracotta #be5937, canal green #3a883a, stone white #f4f1ec, carnival gold #d0a225, terracotta dark #823d26, canal green dark #235223, terracotta light #d08971, canal green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `waterLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Water level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size at the default params: the palazzo block is 14.6 m wide (x) and 11 m deep (z). The model is 16.6 m wide including the canal strip, 15.1 m deep including the 3 m canal strip in front, and 15.83 m tall to the chimney caps. The walls rise to 11.9 m: a 1 m stone plinth, a 4.2 m water floor, a 4.2 m piano nobile and a 3.4 m upper floor, under a 22° hipped roof. The canal front faces +Z, the origin is at the bottom centre of the whole footprint (canal strip included) and the model rests on y = 0. The GLB has 5,792 triangles in 34 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. With every param at its maximum (3 bays each side, 2 upper floors, 4 chimneys) it is 8,252 triangles. Normals are baked flat (non-indexed), so the facets survive in any engine. Every material is named exactly after its kit palette colour, and all 12 kit colours are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so the same colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. There is no text, there are no crests and there are no interiors: windows are opaque soot black. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. waterLevel (the kit's 'Water level') sets the canal surface from 0.15 m to 0.75 m and raises the green wet band on the plinth with it, always staying below the 1 m plinth top. The lower water-gate steps go under at higher levels. The canal strip is part of the model so the palazzo reads as canal-side on its own; it is an opaque slab whose bottom sits on y = 0. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicate materials (from the per-mesh materials), unindexed geometry (flat shading on purpose), sibling overlap (trims, frames and windows embedded in walls on purpose) and scale (compared with the direction's 1 m reference). plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens this library's slug-based ids need. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check accepts those ids, and all 10 survive the GLB reload.

About the Palazzos 3D model

Palazzos is a free low-poly 3D model from the Canal City set. It measures 17 m × 16 m × 15 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,792 triangles across 34 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 436 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Palazzos 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 436 KB: 5,792 triangles, 17,376 vertices and 34 materials, modelled in metres at 17 m × 16 m × 15 m.
Can I animate Palazzos?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Palazzos 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
