Brown Bear

Adult grizzly / brown bear (Ursus arctos) mid-stride on all fours, head low, about 1.1 m at the shoulder hump. Dished face, small rounded ears, dark eyes, long pale curved front claws, short tail. Shaggy brown coat with silver-tipped guard hair over the hump and back, darker legs, and longer clumped fur on the hump and flanks. All geometry and textures are generated procedurally in code.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A realistic adult grizzly / brown bear (Ursus arctos) on all fours, walking, head low. Anatomy: about 1.1 m at the shoulder, the distinctive muscular shoulder hump, a dished face profile, small rounded ears, small dark eyes, long curved pale claws on the front paws, short tail. Coat: shaggy brown fur with silver-tipped (grizzled) guard hairs over the shoulders and back, darker legs, longer fur on the hump and flanks with visible clumping. Hard requirement: the exported GLB must contain more than 20,000 triangles — measure it before delivering; a lighter model is rejected.

Note: Export: 112,718 triangles, 11 meshes, 5 materials (fur, fur-strands, skin, eye, claw), 25 named nodes, GLB 7.8 MB. Bounds: y 0.000–1.163 m (hump body about 1.12 m; guard-hair tips add the rest), length about 2.1 m. Faces +Z, feet on y = 0, origin under the body centre.Triangle density: body ~60k (red-green refined around the head, muzzle and paws), guard-hair cards ~37k, nose ~4.9k, eyes ~1.1k each, ears ~1.3k each, claws ~1.45k per paw.Textures, all generated on a canvas in code: fur base colour 2048² JPEG, fur normal 2048² JPEG (Sobel of the strand height field), fur ORM 1024² JPEG (AO/roughness), guard-hair alpha atlas 1024×512 PNG. Coat colour regions come from linear vertex colours multiplied by the tiling strand texture.direction3d: soft-clay, with explicit direction3d_overrides (realistic Ursus arctos proportions, procedural PBR, roughness by role, clearcoat on eye/claw/nose, SDF surface-nets construction, 120k triangle budget, 1.15 m reference height). The glb-lint warnings for triangle budget (60k) and scale (0.2 m) refer to the soft-clay base and are overridden in the plan.glb-lint heur/detached-parts: the fur cards, nose, eyes and ears each sit alone in their own wrapper group, so the heuristic finds no touching sibling. They are physically embedded in the body mesh and are not floating; neutral views confirm this.Part id naming: the kit's plan-id regex forbids hyphens, so each library mesh `brown-bear.<part>` sits inside a kit wrapper group `bear.<part_with_underscores>`. Both are registered as parts.Unreached limits: fur is a textured displaced shell plus ~3,000 alpha hair cards, not real strands or groom, so the silhouette reads as shaggy rather than truly hairy at close range. No scan-level anatomical fidelity: muscles, paw pads and lips are approximated. No subsurface skin, no wet nose or eye moisture detail beyond clearcoat. Static pose only: no rig, no skin and no walk clip; evaluatePose is a no-op. The craft route was not applicable (the shipped packs rig humanoid toys only).Deterministic: seeded with lib.seededRandom (seed 4217); no Math.random, network assets, scans or stock imagery.
