Wooden gates

A low-poly roofed garden gateway for the Bamboo Forest kit: two dark-wood posts on stone footings carry a small black gable roof, and two bamboo-slat leaves banded with red rails stand slightly open. A modular 3 m piece that snaps on a 1 m grid.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Wooden gates for the Bamboo Forest kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It is a modular piece that snaps on a 1 m grid: give it a length in whole metres and put the origin at its snapping end, stated in meta.notes. This is one part of the Bamboo Forest kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall stalks, mist and stone paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: bamboo green #3a883a, mist grey #adadad, stone #9c958b, red accent #c32222, bamboo green dark #235223, mist grey dark #878787, bamboo green light #5db15d, mist grey light #d4d4d4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mistDensity` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mist density" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3 m long (a whole number of metres on the 1 m grid), about 1.6 m deep across the roof eaves and 3.03 m tall to the ridge-end blocks. The gate opening between the posts is 2.32 m wide and the leaves are 1.82 m tall. Origin: the snapping end, which is the left end seen from the front (x = 0), centred in depth, at ground level. The gateway runs to x = 3, the front faces +Z and the model rests on y = 0. Nothing crosses x = 0 or x = length, so gates and fence pieces butt cleanly; the roof runs flush to both ends. The leaves swing inward (towards -Z), 30% open by default. The GLB has 1,096 triangles in 18 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. three-check's triangle figure (1,386) also counts the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12 are used; mist grey dark, warm white, mid grey and bamboo green dark are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on more than one material: recolour by name. The two mist materials are half-transparent (opacity 0.55, alpha blend). mistDensity (the kit's 'Mist density') sets how many low mist banks lie along the threshold, front and back, and how thick they are: 0 removes them and 1 gives 6 banks about 0.15 m high. They are low-poly shapes, not volumetric fog, so delete the .mist part if your engine supplies its own fog. length (2–5 m, whole metres), open and roofPitch rebuild the gate. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer; only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 expected warnings: 18 per-mesh materials (over the direction's 10) sharing 8 colour names; non-indexed geometry (deliberate hard flat-shaded facets); overlapping sibling boxes (posts inside footings, the tie beam through the posts, the ridge ends on the ridge); and a 3 m height against the direction's 1 m reference height. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 10 planned ids. Fix round 1: the red ridge-end blocks stood up like posts, so they were lowered and the roof slab thickened.

About the Wooden gates 3D model

Wooden gates is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bamboo Forest set. It measures 3.0 m × 3.0 m × 1.9 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,096 triangles across 18 meshes, with 22 named parts. Download the 94 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Wooden gates 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 94 KB: 1,096 triangles, 3,288 vertices and 18 materials, modelled in metres at 3.0 m × 3.0 m × 1.9 m.
Can I animate Wooden gates?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 22 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Wooden gates 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
