Swaying bamboo

A low-poly clump of five ringed bamboo culms with drooping leaf sprays, rising from a small leaf-litter mound in low ground mist. The culms bend at their nodes in a seamless 8-second breeze loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Swaying bamboo for the Bamboo Forest kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Bamboo Forest kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall stalks, mist and stone paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: bamboo green #3a883a, mist grey #adadad, stone #9c958b, red accent #c32222, bamboo green dark #235223, mist grey dark #878787, bamboo green light #5db15d, mist grey light #d4d4d4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mistDensity` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mist density" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: one bamboo clump of five culms about 7.0, 6.5, 6.2, 5.6 and 4.6 m tall (7.35 m overall to the top leaf spray) on a leaf-litter mound about 2.1 × 1.8 m and 0.2 m high. The leaf sprays span about 3 m. The bottom rests on y = 0, the origin is at the centre of the clump, and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 5,992 triangles in 48 meshes. Animation: one 8 s seamless clip, 'scene-motion'. Each culm is three rigid segments chained in the node tree: culm_X_lower hinges at the culm foot, and culm_X_middle and culm_X_upper hinge at the centres of node 4 and node 7. All motion is rotation about those pivots, in whole sine periods per loop. The mound, foot collars, shoot, stones and mist never move. Each segment sleeves 5 cm into the one below, and a node ring hides the seam. The static node pose in the GLB is the pose three-check exported after its determinism seek, not the t = 0 rest. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (8 of the 12). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat (48 materials); recolour by name. The two mist materials are translucent (alpha blend, opacity 0.55). mistDensity (the kit's 'Mist density') sets the number of ground-mist drifts (0 at 0, 7 at 1) and their height. culmCount, culmHeight and sway reshape the clump and the motion. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the model only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked; 7 culms is estimated at about 8k triangles. glb-lint reports 0 errors and 5 expected warnings: the material count from per-mesh export, duplicate material names, non-indexed geometry kept on purpose for flat facets, sibling overlap for the nested segments and layered mound meshes, and a scale heuristic that expects a 1 m object. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB keep all 20 ids.

About the Swaying bamboo 3D model

Swaying bamboo is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Bamboo Forest set. It measures 3.8 m × 7.4 m × 3.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 5,992 triangles across 48 meshes, with 20 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 502 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Swaying bamboo 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 502 KB: 5,992 triangles, 17,976 vertices and 48 materials, modelled in metres at 3.8 m × 7.4 m × 3.5 m.
Is Swaying bamboo animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Swaying bamboo 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
