Drifting mist

A low-poly bank of ground mist for the Bamboo Forest kit: a still mist bed pooled on the ground with three layers of soft faceted puffs drifting slowly across it, in a seamless 12-second loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Drifting mist for the Bamboo Forest kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Bamboo Forest kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall stalks, mist and stone paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: bamboo green #3a883a, mist grey #adadad, stone #9c958b, red accent #c32222, bamboo green dark #235223, mist grey dark #878787, bamboo green light #5db15d, mist grey light #d4d4d4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mistDensity` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mist density" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 4.2 m long (X, the drift direction), 1.9 m deep and 1.2 m tall. The mist bed is 0.1–0.2 m thick. The origin is at the bottom centre, the bed rests on y = 0 and the front faces +Z. The GLB has 6,320 triangles in 79 meshes. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 4 of the 12 are used (mist grey dark, mist grey, mist grey light and warm white). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. The puffs are opaque, matte and faceted rather than translucent, so they look the same in every engine. The baked clip scene-motion (12 s, seamless) moves only the puffs. Each puff crosses its bank along +X once per loop with a gentle bob and sway, and it swells in at the upwind end and shrinks to near zero at the downwind end, which hides the wrap. The mist bed never moves. Each puff translates about its own centre, so there are no hinges. The GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s pose, because three-check exports after its determinism seek. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change the model only when the scene is rebuilt; only the defaults were rendered and checked. mistDensity (the kit "Mist density") thickens the bed and sets how many puffs each bank has and how big they are. bankLength, mistHeight and layers reshape the banks. glb-lint: 0 errors and 4 expected warnings (per-mesh materials, duplicate same-name materials, flat-shaded non-indexed geometry, overlapping puff and bed blobs by design). plan-check: its part-id pattern rejects hyphens, so the library's required hyphenated ids fail that one rule; the same plan with the hyphens removed passes.

About the Drifting mist 3D model

Drifting mist is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Bamboo Forest set. It measures 4.2 m × 1.2 m × 1.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 6,320 triangles across 79 meshes, with 5 named parts and a baked animation (12.0 s). Download the 1.0 MB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Drifting mist 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 1.0 MB: 6,320 triangles, 18,960 vertices and 79 materials, modelled in metres at 4.2 m × 1.2 m × 1.7 m.
Is Drifting mist animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (12.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Drifting mist 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
