Moss rocks

A low-poly cluster of faceted forest boulders for the Bamboo Forest kit. One big stone huddles with smaller stones and pebbles, with moss grown over their upward facets and fern clumps tucked in at the base.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Moss rocks for the Bamboo Forest kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Bamboo Forest kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall stalks, mist and stone paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: bamboo green #3a883a, mist grey #adadad, stone #9c958b, red accent #c32222, bamboo green dark #235223, mist grey dark #878787, bamboo green light #5db15d, mist grey light #d4d4d4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mistDensity` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mist density" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 2.48 m wide × 2.04 m deep × 1.03 m tall. The main boulder is 1.0 m high. Origin is the bottom centre, the front faces +Z, and every stone sits on a flat bed exactly at y = 0. The GLB has 646 triangles in 9 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 6 of the 12 are used; red accent, mist grey light, soot black, warm white, mid grey and dark wood are not. The exporter writes one material per part mesh, so stone, mist grey and bamboo green each appear twice; recolour by name. Moss is a recolour of the stones' upward facets, not a separate shell, so it cannot z-fight. mistDensity (the kit's 'Mist density') sets how mossy the rocks are, on the idea that damper air grows more moss. It lowers the facet slope where moss takes hold (from tops only at 0 to most of the upper half at 1) and adds crown cushions (1 at 0, 6 at 1). It does not add a fog volume. boulderHeight, stoneCount and fernCount rebuild the cluster. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. glb-lint: 0 errors and 3 expected warnings: repeated colour names across parts, non-indexed geometry (deliberate, for hard flat-shaded facets) and overlapping sibling boxes (the stones are nestled together on purpose). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB keep all 5 ids.

About the Moss rocks 3D model

Moss rocks is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bamboo Forest set. It measures 2.5 m × 1.0 m × 2.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 646 triangles across 9 meshes, with 5 named parts. Download the 54 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Moss rocks 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 54 KB: 646 triangles, 1,938 vertices and 9 materials, modelled in metres at 2.5 m × 1.0 m × 2.0 m.
Can I animate Moss rocks?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 5 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Moss rocks 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
