Stone steps

A low-poly flight of six rough-cut stone steps for the Bamboo Forest kit. The steps climb between mossy banks to a top landing, with a vermilion shrine handrail, a stone lantern, bedded boulders and moss in the joints.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Stone steps for the Bamboo Forest kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Bamboo Forest kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Tall stalks, mist and stone paths. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: bamboo green #3a883a, mist grey #adadad, stone #9c958b, red accent #c32222, bamboo green dark #235223, mist grey dark #878787, bamboo green light #5db15d, mist grey light #d4d4d4, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `mistDensity` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Mist density" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 3.1 m wide × 2.75 m deep. Six 0.16 m risers on a 0.38 m going lead to a 0.8 m deep landing 0.96 m above the ground. The stair itself is 1.4 m wide, with 0.85 m mossy banks on either side. The handrail reaches about 1.85 m and the lantern tip 2.07 m. Origin is the bottom centre, the foot of the flight faces +Z, the steps climb toward −Z and everything rests on y = 0. The back is a flat cut at landing height with a dry-stone face under the landing, so a path tile can butt against it. The GLB has 2,828 triangles in 15 meshes, is static and carries no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour (9 of the 12 are used; mist grey light, mid grey and dark wood are not). The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials; recolour by name. mistDensity (the kit's 'Mist density') sets how mossy the steps are, on the idea that a damper forest grows more moss: 0 leaves two tufts, 1 puts a tuft in every tread seam and on every boulder. It does not add a fog volume. stepCount, stepWidth and stepRise rebuild the flight, banks, handrail and lantern seat. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The viewer uses exposure 0.62 rather than the direction's 1.05 so the pale stone keeps its tone; this does not affect the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings, all expected: 15 per-mesh materials sharing 9 colour names; non-indexed geometry, which is deliberate for hard flat-shaded facets; overlapping sibling boxes (interlocking slabs, banks either side); and a 2.07 m height against the direction's 1 m reference height. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB keep all 8 ids.

About the Stone steps 3D model

Stone steps is a free low-poly 3D model from the Bamboo Forest set. It measures 3.1 m × 2.1 m × 2.8 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,828 triangles across 15 meshes, with 8 named parts. Download the 212 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Stone steps 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 212 KB: 2,828 triangles, 8,484 vertices and 15 materials, modelled in metres at 3.1 m × 2.1 m × 2.8 m.
Can I animate Stone steps?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 8 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Stone steps 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
