How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A realistic adult bald eagle (Haliaeetus leucocephalus) perched on a gnarled dead branch, wings half-raised as if about to take off. Anatomy: about 0.9 m tall, wingspan visible at roughly 1.6 m, white head and tail, dark chocolate-brown body and wings, a large hooked yellow beak, pale yellow eyes under a heavy brow, yellow scaled feet with black talons gripping the branch. Plumage: individual primary and secondary flight feathers spread like fingers at the wingtips, layered coverts, feathered 'trousers' on the legs. The branch, about 1.2 m long, is part of the model. Hard requirement: the exported GLB must contain more than 20,000 triangles — measure it before delivering; a lighter model is rejected.

Note: Exported GLB: 114,472 triangles, 12 meshes, 7 materials, 4.66 MB (4,887,464 bytes). Textures: 11 JPEGs generated in code at build time. The plumage tile, feather vane (512x1024) and bark maps are 1024 px or smaller; skin and iris are 512 px. Base colour, normal and ORM (roughness) maps; nothing is baked into the base colour. Measured size: wingspan 1.69 m, about 0.84 m from beak tip to tail tip, crown about 0.94 m above the ground, overall bounds 1.69 x 1.25 x 0.52 m (the raised wingtips set the 1.25 m height). Placement: the branch rests on y = 0 (thick butt end plus a propping fork) and the eagle's toes grip the branch about 0.28 m up. The feet are not on y = 0 because the brief makes the branch part of the model. Part ids: node names carry the brief ids (bald-eagle.*), and extras.partId carries the kit ids (baldeagle.*) because the kit's id pattern forbids hyphens. Honest limits: the body is one SDF surface-nets mesh with cylindrical UVs, so the feather texture stretches slightly on the crown and has a soft density blend at the neck. Plumage is about 1,100 contour-feather cards plus about 180 feather blades per wing, not true barbed geometry. The cards read as thin flat shards in very close views, and the underwing trailing edge shows stepped overlap. The beak is a smooth lofted keratin surface with a cere ridge and sunken nostrils; it has no tomial tooth or surface wear. The yellow gape line was tried and dropped because the mesh resolution made it jagged. The eye is a textured clearcoat sphere set in a sculpted socket, with no separate eyelid geometry. There is no skeleton or rig, and wing pose and spread are build-time parameters only. This is scan-level realism attempted by code, not achieved: it reads as a convincing stylised-realistic eagle, not a photographic one. glb-lint reported 0 errors. Its warnings: 7 materials and 114k triangles both exceed the soft-clay base defaults (5 and 60k), which the plan overrides deliberately; the scale check compares against soft-clay's 0.2 m reference height; and the body, eyes and cards overlap by design.
