Shaduf water lift

A low-poly Ancient Egyptian shaduf: a long wooden sweep pole see-saws on an axle between two mud-brick pillars, with a stepped stone counterweight on one end and a clay pot on a rope at the other that dips into a brick water tank. It carries a seamless 6 s lifting loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Shaduf water lift for the Ancient Egypt kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Ancient Egypt kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Temples and work camps by the river. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: sand #d1bd94, lapis blue #2e67b8, gold #d0a225, palm green #3a883a, sand dark #ba9c5e, lapis blue dark #1f457a, sand light #e6ddcb, lapis blue light #6190d1, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `pyramidSizeAndCompletion` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Pyramid size and completion" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: about 5.8 m long (counterweight end to the far tank wall) and 1.5 m deep; the axle (pivot) is 2.4 m up, the pillar caps 2.65 m, and the pole tip reaches about 3.44 m at the top of the swing (the GLB's static node pose is the t = 2 s pose, 2.9 m tall). The pole is 4.8 m: a 3.6 m long arm and a 1.22 m short arm. Origin: x centred on the footprint, z centred, y = 0 on the ground; the front faces +Z, so the pole swings in the XY plane and the front view shows the whole lever. The model has no ground or river surface. The GLB has 824 triangles in 16 meshes, merged per part and colour and flat-shaded. It holds one baked 6 s clip, 'scene-motion'. The pole pitches about the axle centre (its node origin), and the rope and counterweight are its children, hinged at their lashing points and counter-rotated so they always hang plumb. The pot is a child of the rope. Plinth, pillars, axle and tank never move. The pole angle is one whole-period sine, so the loop is seamless. At the bottom of the stroke the pot sits in the tank's water, 0.3 m off the ground. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and 7 of the 12 are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name repeats: recolour by name. pyramidSizeAndCompletion (the kit's 'Pyramid size and completion' knob) shapes the counterweight as a stepped stone stack: 2 courses at 0, 3 at the default 0.5, 4 at 1, growing from 0.42 to 0.64 m across. pillarHeight and poleReach rebuild the frame; the swing amplitude and tank position are derived from them so the pot always lands in the water. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and change geometry only when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. Fix rounds: (1) the pale sand pillars washed out and read as cast concrete, so they became sand dark cores with proud sand brick courses and dark wood caps; the plinth went fully sand dark; the tank got course bands; the pot and pole were enlarged for thumbnail reading; exposure was lowered to 0.6. (2) The tank was cropped by the hero's bottom edge, so the hero framing was loosened and lifted. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings: material count and duplicates (from the per-mesh export), sibling overlap (deliberate nesting, such as the axle through the pillars and the water tucked into the tank walls), 'detached' plinth top, coping and rope (they sit on sibling meshes or hang from the pole), and a 2.9 m height against the direction's 1 m reference. The verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract was supplied. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen; the same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 9 ids.

About the Shaduf water lift 3D model

Shaduf water lift is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Ancient Egypt set. It measures 5.7 m × 2.9 m × 1.5 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 824 triangles across 16 meshes, with 9 named parts and a baked animation (6.0 s). Download the 87 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Shaduf water lift 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 87 KB: 824 triangles, 1,458 vertices and 16 materials, modelled in metres at 5.7 m × 2.9 m × 1.5 m.
Is Shaduf water lift animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (6.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Shaduf water lift 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
