African Elephant

Adult African bush elephant standing at real scale (3.24 m at the shoulder), trunk hanging relaxed with a curled two-fingered tip, Africa-shaped veined ears, forward-curving tusks and deeply wrinkled, mud-dusted grey skin — one continuous SDF-sculpted body with fully procedural PBR textures.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

A realistic adult African bush elephant (Loxodonta africana) standing, trunk hanging relaxed with a slight curl at the tip. Anatomy: about 3.2 m at the shoulder, concave back, very large ears shaped like the map of Africa with visible veins, long tusks curving forward, a two-fingered trunk tip, thick pillar legs with rounded toenails, a thin tail with a hair tuft. Skin: grey, deeply wrinkled — fine crosshatched creases everywhere, deeper folds at the trunk, knees and around the eyes; dried-mud tone variation; small eyes with long lashes. Hard requirement: the exported GLB must contain more than 20,000 triangles — measure it before delivering; a lighter model is rejected.

  • three-check PASS — 22 checks, 0 failed, 60 captures (1280x800 + 390x844, GLB reload preserves all 12 planned part ids) · glb-lint 0 errors, 3 warnings, verdict UNVERIFIED (no requirements contract supplied). Warnings: triangle count above soft-clay's 60k default (plan override sets 120k per brief); scale heuristic compares to soft-clay's 0.2 m figurine default (plan override declares 3.2 m); ears/tusks/eyes flagged as 'detached' because each sits in its own wrapper group — they are embedded in the body by design.

Note: Triangles: 117,032 in the exported GLB (measured from the glTF accessors) — body 82,352 (multi-resolution surface nets: 4.2 cm body, 2 cm head/trunk, 8 mm eye regions, zipped watertight), ears 9,152 each, tail 1,408, the rest tusks, eyes, lashes, toenails and tuft.Textures: skin atlas 2048×2048 base colour (JPEG, sRGB), normal (JPEG, glTF convention) and occlusion/roughness/metalness packed ORM (JPEG); ivory 256×1024 colour + roughness (JPEG); eye 256×128 colour (JPEG). Skin atlas density ≈ 217 texels/m (≈4.6 mm per texel). GLB 5.9 MB.All geometry and textures are generated by code at load (seeded noise, lib.seededRandom); no scans, downloads or stock imagery. Base colour carries no baked lighting; occlusion lives only in the AO channel.Honest limits: wrinkle detail finer than ~1 cm cannot be resolved at 2048² over a 3.2 m animal, so the finest crosshatch is about a 2 cm period; real elephant skin cracks are finer.Ears are thin double-sided shells driven by a 2D Africa-like outline with grown vein trees; they are not cloth-simulated and do not deform against the shoulder.Lashes and the tail tuft are ribbon strand cards, not groomed hair; no body hair or bristles on the trunk/chin.Proportions are hand-tuned from reference knowledge (shoulder 3.24 m, concave back, hips lower than withers); no measured skeleton or muscle simulation. Static pose only — no rig, no clips. The brief's hyphenated part ids (african-elephant.*) are on the meshes; each sits inside a kit-legal wrapper group (elephant.*) because the plan checker rejects hyphens.
