Cages

A low-poly warehouse roll cage: grey wire-mesh sides and back between rack-orange corner posts, on a steel deck with four castors. It has a hinged mesh front gate, a mid shelf, hi-vis yellow grips and corner bumpers, and brown parcels loaded on the deck and shelf.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Cages for the Warehouse and Logistics kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Warehouse and Logistics kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Racks, parcels and deadlines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: cardboard brown #6b4a2e, rack orange #ed7e1d, grey #757e8a, hi-vis yellow #ffe042, cardboard brown dark #362517, rack orange dark #af590e, cardboard brown light #9b704b, rack orange light #eea668, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `stockLevel` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Stock level" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the cage is 0.8 m wide and 0.7 m deep, the usual roll-container footprint, and 1.7 m tall to the post caps. The castor wheels are 0.12 m across, and the deck top sits at 0.19 m. The yellow bumpers stick out 12 mm past the deck. Units are metres, +Y up, and the gate side faces +Z. The origin is the cage's bottom centre, with the four wheels resting on y = 0. The open gate swings out in front of the footprint, so at the defaults the bounding box reaches about 0.6 m forward of the cage. The GLB is static, carries no animation clip, and has 1,976 triangles in 20 meshes at the defaults. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. It uses 10 of the 12, the direction's material cap; rack orange light and dark wood are unused. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so names repeat; recolour by name. stockLevel (the kit's 'Stock level') loads up to 12 parcels: the deck's first layer, then the shelf, then a second layer on the deck. A slip sheet always stays on the deck. cageHeight resizes the posts, mesh panels and gate, and the shelf stays at about half height. gateOpen swings the front gate from closed (0) to 105° open (1). The params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the viewer rebuilds the scene. three-check passed at the defaults and at both extremes (all params at their minimum, then all at their maximum). glb-lint reported 0 errors. Its warnings are expected: one material per mesh, non-indexed geometry for hard flat facets, intended nesting (castors under the deck, gate wires in their frame), and parts reported as 'detached' because they touch flush (posts on the deck, mesh panels between the posts). plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan passes with the slug de-hyphenated.

About the Cages 3D model

Cages is a free low-poly 3D model from the Warehouse and Logistics set. It measures 82 cm × 1.7 m × 1.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 1,976 triangles across 20 meshes, with 10 named parts. Download the 157 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Cages 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 157 KB: 1,976 triangles, 5,928 vertices and 20 materials, modelled in metres at 82 cm × 1.7 m × 1.3 m.
Can I animate Cages?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 10 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Cages 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
