Cable gondola

A low-poly solarpunk cable-car gondola: a white cabin with a sky-blue window band, a terracotta waistline and sliding front doors, a planted roof garden with trailing vines, and a hanger arm that rises to a four-sheave carriage on a short length of haul rope. It comes with a seamless 8 s docking loop.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Cable gondola for the Solarpunk Garden City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Solarpunk Garden City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A green city of glass and vines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: leaf green #3a883a, white #f4f1ec, terracotta #be5937, sky blue #2e67b8, leaf green dark #235223, white dark #d7cebc, leaf green light #5db15d, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `plantCoverage` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Plant coverage" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: the cabin is 2.6 m long (X) by 2.0 m deep (Z) and 2.44 m tall to the roof. The whole asset is 4.49 m tall to the top of the sheaves, and the haul-rope stub is 4.2 m long. The origin is the bottom centre of the cabin, which rests on y = 0. The doors face +Z and the rope runs along X. The GLB has 2,718 triangles in 44 meshes, merged per part and colour. It holds the rest pose (doors closed) and one baked 8 s clip, 'scene-motion'. In the clip the two door leaves slide 0.55 m apart on their track, hold open and close again. The four sheaves turn exactly 3 times on their own axles (Z axis) and ease to a stop while the doors are open. The cabin, hanger, carriage frame and rope never move. The cabin rests on the ground plane so it drops into a station or onto a scene, so position the whole asset to hang it on your own cable. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour, and all 12 are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name repeats across materials: recolour by name. The glass is opaque sky blue, so the bench and floor show only through the open doorway. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. plantCoverage (the kit's 'Plant coverage') fills the roof troughs with planting and flowers and lengthens the vines over the eaves. cabinLength stretches the cabin, rope and troughs, and hangerLength raises the carriage. doorTravel scales how far the doors open in the viewer loop; the GLB clip carries the default full opening. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 heuristic warnings. Two cover the material count and duplicate PBR values, both from the per-mesh materials. One flags overlaps where the posts, stripes and jaw are deliberately nested. One flags the rope as touching no sibling, but it rests in the grip jaw, which lives in the carriage group. The last compares the height with the direction's 1 m reference. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires. three-check accepts those ids, and all 12 survive the GLB reload. The 390×844 portrait hero crops the cabin's sides. The 1280×800 views, which include the preview, frame the whole model.

About the Cable gondola 3D model

Cable gondola is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Solarpunk Garden City set. It measures 4.2 m × 4.5 m × 2.3 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,428 triangles across 42 meshes, with 12 named parts and a baked animation (8.0 s). Download the 222 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Cable gondola 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 222 KB: 2,428 triangles, 5,708 vertices and 42 materials, modelled in metres at 4.2 m × 4.5 m × 2.3 m.
Is Cable gondola animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (8.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Cable gondola 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
