Water tanks

A low-poly rainwater cistern pair on a timber deck: a tall white tank with a terracotta roof, a leaf-petal rain-catcher funnel and a sky-blue level gauge, linked by a pipe to a shorter twin topped with a moss garden, with vines climbing both.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Water tanks for the Solarpunk Garden City kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. This is one part of the Solarpunk Garden City kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): A green city of glass and vines. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: leaf green #3a883a, white #f4f1ec, terracotta #be5937, sky blue #2e67b8, leaf green dark #235223, white dark #d7cebc, leaf green light #5db15d, white light #f9f8f6, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `plantCoverage` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Plant coverage" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: 3.31 m wide × 2.03 m deep × 3.51 m tall overall. The main tank is 1.6 m across with a 2.2 m wall, about 4.4 m³ of storage. Its roof eave is at 2.5 m and the funnel tops out at 3.51 m. The twin tank is 1.0 m across and 1.45 m tall. Both stand on a 0.25 m timber deck. The origin is the bottom centre of the footprint, resting on y = 0, with the front (level gauge and tap) facing +Z. The GLB has 2,646 triangles in 25 meshes (merged per part and colour) and no animation clip. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour. 11 of the 12 colours are used; warm white is not. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name can appear on several materials: recolour by name. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults. They only change the geometry when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer, and only the defaults were rendered and checked. plantCoverage (the kit's 'Plant coverage') sets how many vines there are and how high they climb, and the number and size of the moss mounds on the twin's lid. waterLevel only moves the blue fill in the sight-glass. secondTank 0 removes the twin and the link pipe and shortens the deck. glb-lint: 0 errors and 5 warnings. Two are about material count and duplicate materials, and both come from the per-mesh materials. The other three are heuristics. Hoops, plinths and funnel parts are deliberately nested. The ladder stands on the deck and is bracketed to the tank, but those are different parts. The 3.5 m height is flagged against a 1 m reference height, and that height is intentional. plan-check passes except for its part-id regex, which rejects the hyphens in the slug-based ids this library requires; three-check accepts those ids and all 9 survive the GLB reload.

About the Water tanks 3D model

Water tanks is a free low-poly 3D model from the Solarpunk Garden City set. It measures 3.3 m × 3.5 m × 2.0 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,356 triangles across 25 meshes, with 9 named parts. Download the 158 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Water tanks 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 158 KB: 2,356 triangles, 5,068 vertices and 25 materials, modelled in metres at 3.3 m × 3.5 m × 2.0 m.
Can I animate Water tanks?
It ships as a static mesh. Its 9 named parts are separate nodes, so you can move or animate each one in your engine.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Water tanks 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
