Animal walk cycles

A low-poly African bush elephant with a seamless 4-second in-place walk cycle: the legs step in lateral sequence on hip, knee and ankle joints, the ears fan, the trunk swings and the tail swishes. Built as rigid jointed parts, so the clip plays in any engine without skinning.

How it was made

The brief given to 1DesignTool's “3D object” template:

Animal walk cycles for the Savanna kit. Design it as one clear asset at believable real-world scale for that setting (state the size in metres in meta.notes), with its main parts modelled and named, readable at thumbnail size and from every orbit angle. It moves: author a seamless baked loop (2–12 s) with every pivot exactly at its hinge, axle or swivel, and keep the base still. This is one part of the Savanna kit (Low-poly style, flat-lowpoly direction): Golden grass and big animals. Use ONLY the kit palette, by name: straw gold #d0a225, acacia green #3a883a, earth red #c32222, dusk purple #572e6b, straw gold dark #8f7019, acacia green dark #235223, straw gold light #debd63, acacia green light #5db15d, soot black #1b1b22, warm white #f2ede2, mid grey #7d828c, dark wood #3d2a1c. Every material's `name` must be exactly the palette colour it uses — the GLB carries these names so the kit recolours as one; an unnamed material fails delivery. Kit knob: expose a param `dryOrWetSeason` (0–1, default 0.5) for the kit's "Dry or wet season" setting wherever it makes sense on this part, and keep that id.

Note: Size: an African bush elephant about 2.96 m at the shoulder and 3.01 m at the tops of the ears. The footprint is about 2.23 × 4.68 m from tusk tips to tail with the ears spread. The origin is at the bottom centre of that footprint, the planted soles rest exactly on y = 0, and the trunk faces +Z. The GLB has 2,896 triangles in 33 meshes. three-check's 3,186-triangle figure includes the viewer's staging ground, which is not exported. The baked clip scene-motion (4 s, two strides, seamless, every curve periodic in the loop) is an in-place walk: the root never moves, so add your own root motion at about 0.33 m/s if you want the elephant to travel. The legs step in lateral sequence (left hind, left fore, right hind, right fore). Each leg is a hip → knee → ankle chain solved by two-bone IK per frame, so the planted foot slides straight back along the ground. Every group origin is exactly on its joint: hip, knee drum, ankle, neck, ear hinge, trunk joints and tail root. The body group only bobs up and down by ±1.8 cm. The legs, head, trunk, ears and tail ride on it. Rigid transform tracks only: no skinning and no morphs. The GLB's static node transforms are the pose at the moment of export (t = 2 s). Sample the clip at 0 s for the loop start. Every material is named exactly after a kit palette colour; 4 of the 12 are used. The exporter writes one material per mesh, so a colour name appears on several materials: recolour by name. dryOrWetSeason (the kit's 'Dry or wet season') raises the dark-wood mud line on the legs from the feet (dry, 0.16 m) to above the knees (wet, 1.0 m). At the default 0.5 it sits at 0.58 m. strideLength and earFlap change only the motion, and tuskLength changes only the tusks. Params are baked into the GLB at their defaults and only change the model when the scene is rebuilt in the viewer. Only the defaults were rendered and checked. The straw-toned disc in the preview is viewer staging and is not in the GLB. glb-lint: 0 errors. Its verdict reads UNVERIFIED only because no requirements contract is supplied. It gives 6 expected warnings: the material count and duplicate same-named materials (both from the per-mesh export, with only 4 distinct colours), non-indexed geometry (deliberate hard flat-shaded facets), and overlapping siblings (toenails on the feet). It also flags 'detached part' and scale heuristics: jointed limbs meet only at their joints, and the elephant is meant to be 3 m tall. plan-check rejects only the hyphenated library part ids, because its regex allows no hyphen. The same plan with the slug de-hyphenated passes. three-check and the GLB reload keep all 22 ids. Fix rounds: (1) mud split on long leg triangles made sawtooth stripes, so the leg rods were subdivided, and the rump cap was smoothed. (2) The soles floated 9 cm because the foot was authored at the IK ankle height instead of the rest ankle; this is fixed, and soles now measure y = 0 in the GLB. (3) Joint facets were replaced by slim knee drums on the hinge axis.

About the Animal walk cycles 3D model

Animal walk cycles is a free animated low-poly 3D model from the Savanna set. It measures 2.2 m × 3.0 m × 4.7 m (W × H × D) at real-world scale and is built from 2,896 triangles across 33 meshes, with 22 named parts and a baked animation (4.0 s). Download the 299 KB GLB and drop it into three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot or Blender — free for commercial use, no attribution required.

Is the Animal walk cycles 3D model free for commercial use?
Yes. It is free under the 1DesignTool 3D library license: use it in personal and commercial work — games, apps, websites, renders, ads and client projects — and modify it as you like, with no credit required. What you can't do is re-sell or re-distribute the file on its own or inside a model pack.
What file format is it, and how big is it?
A single binary glTF 2.0 file (.glb), 299 KB: 2,896 triangles, 8,688 vertices and 33 materials, modelled in metres at 2.2 m × 3.0 m × 4.7 m.
Is Animal walk cycles animated?
Yes — the GLB carries a baked animation (4.0 s), ready to play with any glTF animation mixer.
Which engines and tools can open it?
Anything that reads glTF 2.0. three.js, React Three Fiber, Babylon.js, Godot 4 and Blender import the GLB directly; Unity and Unreal Engine load it through their glTF importers. The snippets above show the exact code for three.js, React Three Fiber, Godot and Blender.
How was the Animal walk cycles 3D model made?
Claude Code (Claude Opus 5.5) generated it inside 1DesignTool's 3D template from a written brief, then the design kit's checks verified the geometry and the GLB before it was published. You can make your own the same way with 1DesignTool.
